Ok so noticed tonight that one of my headlights is out but the sidelight is working. Other than being an annoying and dangerous cunt, if I left it to the weekend to replace am I likely to get done by OB if they see it? Do they still issue a notice to fix defects or will it potentially incur points?
Apart from more snow, car problems are the last thing I need this week.

Technically illegal, but if the sidelight's still working then a copper might be more lenient.
Think it's just a fixed penalty notice.

If you get caught you may get a ticket all depends what mood they're in. You can always just say you didn't know.
I'm sure its just a notice no points or fine, but have 7 days to rectify.

Yeo, just checked and it is non-endorseable: What’s a fixed penalty notice (FPN)?
If you’ve committed a minor traffic offence, like not wearing a seatbelt or driving with a broken headlight, the police may issue you with a one-off fine called a fixed penalty notice.
Non-endorsable offences - meaning those which don’t result in points on your licence - usually incur a fine of £30.
Fines for endorsable offences like speeding are usually £60, although there may be some exceptions. More serious offences such as driving without insurance can incur fines of up to £200.
Police do not have the power to make you pay fines on the spot.
If you feel a penalty notice is unjust, you can choose not to pay the fine and argue your case in court. If you do pay the fine, you won’t be prosecuted and no record of your offence will be kept.
Recipients have 28 days to pay the fixed penalty or request a hearing otherwise the fine will increase by 50%. You’ll be reported for prosecution if you fail to pay a fixed penalty for an offence detected by an automatic camera within 28 days.

That's what i was gonna say. Plead ignorance, flash 'em your tits and you normally get told to sort it. I've got a producer every time as well.
Like Chubbs says though, it all depends on whether or not they're a cock, which the police, on the whole, generally seem to be these days.

Hmmm looking into it you get a fine or have to submit the vehicle for an inspection under the VDRN scheme. Is that right?
The more I think about it, the more I realise people with one light out do my head in. Think I will just turn up late and explain why. At least it's a 5 minute job to change them. Unfortunate thing is that the shop doesn't open until 8am. Meh.

Kinda decided I couldn't be arsed to go to Cardiff today because it was a lot of messing around for a Tuesday morning. Anyway the bulbs I want aren't in until 1pm so they made my decision for me. Already had one pissed off email from the director in Cardiff. Whoops.
