Connell on the bench against Arsenal tonight.

He will be desperate to get on.

Don't forget Charlton Play-off Semi Final 2nd Leg Penalty shoot-out hero - Stephen Darby - starting at right back against Lukas Podolski!

Pleased for him.  Never met him but seemed like a good lad and scoring against the club he supports will surely be something he'll never forget!

I said the same thing on saturday, as i thought he would have put a couple of the chances that we had away.

Arsenal fan as well, amusing that he'll now probably be remembered for inflicting one of the most embarrassing results of modern times on them.

he was very scattergun in his finishing as well...he missed a hell of a lot of opportunities while he was with us

Ben Hutchinson substituted at 61 minutes in the Mansfield v Lincoln FA cup replay, presumably for being completely ineffective as he was when he was here.

I don't understand this myth that Connell would currently be banging them in. His finishing most of the times was shocking! Decent guy, good player for League Two but no more.

If he was still here he'd be getting booed.

I agree with both points (sadly, on the second one).

Connell- 11 goals in 32 appearances for The Town according to Wikipedia.

This seasons numbers for Town strikers and our main threat-

Williams-4 goals in 22 appearances (BBC)

Collins- 8 goals in 24 appearances (BBC)

Storey- 3 goals in 8 appearances (BBC)

Ritchie- 7 goals in 25 appearances (BBC)

Matt Ritchie, currently second top scorer for us.

I'd have quite happily given Alan a run in the squad this season.

He's a bench warmer at Bradford. Would have been the same her at the most. What our current forwards are doing is irrelevant

I think that our current crop of strikers is not bagging enough goals (perhaps with the exception of Collins) is hardly irrelevant.

He may be a bench warmer at Bradford but, here, where he was relativiely settled, may have led to him being given better opportunities. In addition, his tally for us last season was also as a frequent bench warmer. I think getting shot of Alan when we did was a mistake. He deserved a chance in League 1.

We wasn't very good when he came on against Arsenal. Couldn't hold up the ball, outmuscled very easily.

That said, his penalty was class.
