Technically this would his first permanent management job, so we are sticking to the model of giving people chances.
Can see where you're coming from. I meant more along the lines of the player manager/recently retired model. Hopefully KM will be the exception to the rule for us.

For fucks sake.
It's bound to come out tonight anyway. Some one will see Kevin Mac at the De Vere Hotel or something and just ask him if he's the new manager and it will be straight on here.

Edit: or straight on Twitter then on here 10 seconds later.

Ian Wright is a cock. No thanks. He normally speaks no sense.

MacDonald has been mentioned as a good coach whilst with Villa, and the fans really rated him. He bought through a number of their now first team players.

I'd have him over Wright anyday.

I'm also impressed by this if indeed it is Macdonald.
Not high profile but seems to be very highly thought of at Villa and was under serious consideration as manager there.
Responsible for developing lots of youth talent at Villa, so could also be good for that aspect of the club.
Surely No way would this be a stop gap appointment.
This is probably as good as we could get at the current time.  Can't think of any other realistic contenders I would rather have.

Blackburn also seriously considered appointing him this season.

Here is a perfect example from Twitter of the reaction we can expect if/when MacDonald is appointed:

A few fans could do with looking up the word 'expectations' in the dictionary.

He surely would have some good links too, so we could get some good loan signings too.

I'd be happy with MacDonald, I think he'd be a very steady appointment. He's seems very well thought of by many in football.

I've never heard of him, why are so many people saying they'd be happy with him?
Not a dig at him or anyone saying he'd be good at all, i'm just wondering why people rate him so highly.

Think that will largely be the better the devil you don't know factor....MacDonald isn't any of the retreads we could have got lumbered with, so he comes with some experience but little baggage...Venky's wanted him before appointing Appleton.

He was well regarded at Villa...so I'd say given the short time frame a decent enough appointment.
