@SamMorshead_SA The bookies are rarely wrong, 1/8, bizarre appointment if true, worrying times.

Bizarre?? Worrying?? Why?? Huh?

I like the appointment if that is indeed what happens.

Ignorance is going to be a major factor in most people's initial reactions.

When I first heard him being mentioned for the job, I had no idea who he was to be honest.

But after a bit of research, it appears he would be a decent appointment. Hopefully, our fans will realise the same thing and get behind him. I'm not holding my breath though.

If it is, indeed, Kev Mac, the new mob goes up a bit in my estimate.

Doesn't smack of a 'yes man, only here for the wages' appointment.

Now let's see if there is actually a £4.5m warchest!!

This is the part that a lot seem to be struggling with.

TBF, reading thru these posts, there isn't many, if any at all, that seem negative.

Bit disappointed it isn't going to be JFH. Was hoping we'd stick with the model that has been so successful for us down the years. Unsure on McDonald at the moment, I'm wondering if it will be until the end of the season initially with a review to follow in the summer. Think this would be the best way to go about it but got a sneaky feeling it's gonna be a 2.5 year contract.

Just spoke to my m8 who's a Villa fan. KM is very good with the youngsters apparently (lets hope that doesn't lead to a Rix-esque court case) and the players loved him. Apparently a good motivator aswell which I think we certainly need right now. I get the feeling a lot of our players were giving an extra 10-15% under PDC, a feeling that's been reiterated having watched the last two home games.

Technically this would his first permanent management job, so we are sticking to the model of giving people chances.

I really hope it is Kevin MacDonald!

From what I read he is a great manager prospect and has loads of coaching experience!

I'd also not heard of Kevin MacDonald until today but, having read up on him, I would be much more encouraged by an appointment like this than (to use one of Reg's phrases) a 'management retread' like Newell or Buckle.  My only ?? - and this is a ?? that has been raised by a few others - is why has it taken him so long before deciding to move in to management?  He's 52 and his playing career finished in 1994.  If I'd been doing the interview, 'why now?' would have been question #1.
