I am a bit gutted. Jakub is a really nice bloke and his wife and kid are pretty settled in Swindon. Shame he didn't get a chance.

Fitton's punt on Jesinowski didn't work either then... Misun will be next.

Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 09:25:37
Gutted really for Big V. We need strikers and Pericard would score for fun in L2, always gets stuck in, and show flashes of brilliance and was very unlucky during his time here due to injuries, Will easily score 15-20 goals for a club in League One. Wouldnt surprise me if a couple Championship sides showed an interest. Danny Wilson said it best "we haven't seen the best of Vincent", this will come back to haunt us big time.

2 questions.

1. Is Vincent Pericard the worst Swindon Town striker of all time?

2. How many times has Gazzza joined, got the piss taken out of him, gone mental, posted shit, got more piss taken out him then deleted his account? 27 now?

I thought he was a marketing ploy, a bit like Wally.

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard
Post by: Batch on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 11:51:32
The lack of effort Pericard showed was even excess of the lack of ability. Its true the injury didn't help him, but he looked either half arsed or unfit half the time. Lack of confidence (not helped by us fans) or a total Trevor Benjamin? Who knows.

Talking of fitness the inevitable resignation of former fitness coach Morrison was announced today.

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard
Post by: Trashbat? on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 11:55:58
Im not pointing the finger of blame at Morrison but I dont think many of our boys were fit at all last season, most of them looked really out of shape compared to the play off season.

They need a beasting like Wise used to give, during this pre season...although most of those that deserved it will no longer be with us

VP was on a par with all these with a fair few of these being lots worse, and this is only since I have been watching the Town, I am sure a few more older fans will add some to the list but here you go, some people wont agree with a couple but IMO these are all as bad or worse than big Vinnie.....

Ken Beamish
Trevor Benjamin
Fola Onion Bhaji
mark McCammon
Frank McAvennie
Jimmy Gilligan
Shaun Close
Moses (the sea parter) Ashikodi
Jon Obika
Jamie Cureton
Tony Thorpe
Tony Evans
Neil Fenn
Jamie Slabber
Terry Gibson
Wayne Gray
Roy Greenwood
David Geddis
Paul Hunt
Kyle Lightborne
Chris McPhee
Petr Mikolanda
Kaid Mohammed
Ian Muir
Frank Nouble
Tope Obidaye
Alex Rhodes
Ben Hutchinson

Tope Obidaye, Alex Rhodes, Ben Hutchinson, Jamie Slabber & Chris McPhee were all ever so slightly worse for me. Frank Nouble, Tony Thorpe and Trevor Benjamin on a par.

Frank Nouble, because of reputation, was a massive disappointment. I'd also add Moses Ashikodi and Jon Sutton to this impressive list. And Shayne Bradley.

Crystall Tips should make Where's Misun? (Or Milan's Misun) a running feature in any future 69ers, get him a stripey red jumper and you have a start.

Royce Brownlie can't be included in a list like this, purely because of THAT barnet goal

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard
Post by: ChalkyWhiteIsGod on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 17:01:18
Royce scored a great goal for us, so surely that pits him above Pericard straight away. Tope had all the attributes, he was big and strong and quite quick for a big lad....sadly he had a footballing brain of a five year old who had never seen a football before.

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard
Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 17:29:14
Never understood the dislike for Tope. He was quick and strong and only played in his natural position once or so. Wilson played him on the left wing when he's right footed and a striker. He showed endeavour and was good with the ball at his feet, I'd have him back. As a striker of course.

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard
Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 17:35:26
Brownlie must have been a bit on an ego trip or something, because he really wasnt too bad at all. I liked his goal at Wycombe too, nicely timed run and finnish.

Ive got nothing but contempt for Ben Hutchinson. He really was a useless lucky lazy useless cunt spearheading an otherwise great team. Cant think of another player who I hated seeing on the teamsheet more than Ben Hutchinson.

Title: Re: Jakub Jesionkowski and Vincent Pericard

I think it was just the change of management that really killed the Town careers of Fola, Brownlie and Monkhouse.

Sturrock was Mr picky about his strikers (unless you were his son).

I always thought Tope was decent, he was good as most things APART from his final ball.

He seemed to get the ball, could get past a player, get into a crossing position then had no idea what to do with it.

That will either come with game time in the next few years or it never ever will (see Ifil sorta thing)

I've yet to see a striker mentioned in here that was worse than Pericard, alot were just as bad but none worse.

Even the likes of Sturrock, McPhee and Benjamin get past on effort alone!

McCammon was worse. Pericard scored a couple of goals. McCammon didn't get even remotely close. People slated Pericard but they never laughed at him. McCammon was so bad people around me (and me in fact) were actually laughing at him. I have never known that to happen before or since.

Pericard is shit awful but McCammon was worse.

For me, Hutchinson takes some beating. I don't even know if he had any ability because the useless, lazy cunt could never be bothered to even try.

Purely in a Swindon shirt Cureton was another one that fucked me right off.

I'd rather a player of limited ability that worked their fucking socks off than some prick who can't be bothered and just goes through the motions.

See, Slabber didn't score, but his time up front with Parkin coincided with one of SSP's most prolific spells... did he do the donkey work while SSP took some time off in the penalty area scoring muchos gols? Probably not, but i thought i'd raise it regardless...
