If you look at the stats from last season both Vigs and R C-C had a 50% win rate in the league... whereas Moore a 20% win rate, however his time at the back end coincided with losing centre halves and Brown taking over.
Our best ever Div 4 team had Kenny Allen in goal for most of it, after Scott Endersby flounced out early doors and Joke Findlay was obviously on the piss. Kenny was a veteran who knew Div 4, a big bugger who'd come and gather high balls. He was nowhere near Div 3 standard the following year.
I loved Kenny Allen, he was a "horses for courses" keeper. Macari realised that many teams had massive centre forwards and rellied on long balls thrown into the box from crosses and corners. Kenny was huge at about 6 foor 4 or 5 and could still jump 3 or 4 foot in the air to claim the ball and hardly any got past him, he was an ok shot stopper but his main role was claiming long balls which he did with ease. He could also kick the ball the full length of the pitch if needed. Endersby was a great shot stopper but too short at 5 foot 9 to take the next step in his career and had a falling out with Macari, Findlay was just shocking.

Value for Power maybe... but for me when you're a middling Div 4 side at best with a reduced budget, you don't want to be using up a chunk of it on a dodgy keeper.
It should be about compromise to max your budget... not easy but a high wage keeper is a bit of a luxury in Div 4, relative to the other key players in your spine.
Not value for the team as a whole or a possible transfer bonus to put towards next seasons budget? He is under contract until the end of the season thus his salary is already factored in. Are you aware of how much is he on v anyone else in the squad? So we follow your opinion then and don’t offer him anything and he can go on a free, you are ok with that? So for next season we can look for two keepers to occupy the No.1 & No.2 spots because you’ve already thrown our current No.2 out with the bathwater. Where do we find one non ‘dodgy’ No.1 & one non ex convict No.2 keeper from then?

Here’s an idea. Just turn up, watch the game, dissect it afterwards.
Just got my FGR tickets for tonight. Looking forward to seeing whether we are more Macclesfield or more Lincoln.

The problem is that nothing points to Vigs becoming a saleable asset.... we then lock up a dispropotionate chunk of the budget on at best an average keeper in Div 4.
In your opinion. It may not be Brown's and it may not be Power's opinion. In my opinion Lawrence was an above average League One keeper not too long ago. Time will tell if he can get back to that level or beyond. Regardless, unless you are party to the terms being offered in the new contract then any reference to "disproportionate chunk of the budget" is purely supposition surely?!

Vigs was at his best during his loan spell... the season Power signed him we got relegated. If you offer a player new terms it has to be an increase, not only weekly wage but also loyalty bonus.

It's obviously a gamble.... make the offer in the hope that you can cash in, the downside being if no-one comes in you're stuck.... if it does work out he goes anyway, Power has shown no great inclination to invest back in much of the monies that have come in.... so you still need a keeper. Will Henry was considered in the top ten EFL teenage players not so long ago. https://www.efl.com/news/2016/october/efl-10-talented-teens-making-the-breakthrough-in-the-efl/Maybe, a campaign at Chippenham will toughen him up to start next season.

So you’re saying that Vigs was responsible for the relegation?

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a keeper relegated from Div 3 to Div 4 who has then commanded a decent fee.

No that was Thatcher.... I think you'll be hard pressed to find a keeper relegated from Div 3 to Div 4 who has then commanded a decent fee.
That was not really the question asked Jeremy....
