22,000 would mean that every Season Ticket Holder for this Year and next (believe that's about 7000 unique people) had bought three, which I doubt severely.

Dont be fooled...most season ticket holders will buy the full six allocation...for family friends etc...so if 5000 season ticket holders buy six each.........30,000 sold.

Indeed. For instance, there's a big group of us going, and within this group, there are only three of us that are ST holders.

As STFC11 says....on Points West earlier (6.45pm) they had said that we had already sold around 8,000 tickets....and they were actually at the CG, so I am inclined to believe them rather than and internet rumour.

Don't think you're allowing for (say) kids STs, lonely singles (we've got a fair few of them I'll warrant) and season ticket holders doubling up (e.g. one ST buys six for group of mates, all ST holders). No way will most buy six each.

And 22,000 in 24 hours? No chance. I call Samdy's bullshit and raise it a bollocks.

I don't believe the 22000 figure myself, maybe 22000 left to sale.  I tried the phone number this morning to no avail.  Gave up the ghost and booked 8 tickets from two season tickets.  Family and friends make7 and just me a Town fan.

hi guys can I ask a question, do you have to be on the database? or just have a local postcode?

I was on the database from yonks ago, but now always just buy my ticket on the day. I've probably moved house 3 times since I last phoned the ticket office and order tickets and I could do without any problems when I ring Friday morning.

So how many are you buying Paul.....
Got 5 (actually on Joe's ticket because it wouldn't accept my ST number), we also ordered 2 for my brother-in-law on his ticket and none on mine. So that's 7 tickets between 3 season tickets, far cry from everyone using up their allocation. Given there was always going to be a panic rush on the 1st day, the first day's sales will be toploaded. I don't reckon we'll pass more than 15k by the time tickets go on general sale. Which would still be bloody good in 2 days, but 22k on the first day? Pfft.

(not aimed at you leef, I know you called that as shit as much as I did)

I have to say i have just been through the ticketzone listings of our seating as if i was going to buy some seats, you now cant get anymore than 2 together on the bottom tier and also the first 20 rows of the top tier are pretty much gone, the expensive tickets are shifting quick too by the looks of things, Personally after going through it I dont think 22,000 is too far off the mark

Title: Re: We have sold...

looking again it seems blocks 536 to 550 on the upper tier havent gone on sale yet and that seems like shit loads so probably best to ignore my previous post unless of course you have a ticket in one of those blocks in which case it means they are sold out!

That's not a high bar round here :) But as sutton so kindly pointed out, finding yourself agreeing with me should usually be taken as a red flag you've got something hideously wrong

Tbh, it doesn't matter much, so long as there are enough left when they go on general sale for non-season ticket holding fans to get the tickets they need and none left by next Friday

Does anyone know, if they have been released yet, how the Club Wembley tickets (2nd Tier) are going, sales wise?

My boss had seats there for the Oxford game and said it was a great view and bar and toilets facilities were worth the extra dosh.

Do you think people are spending that extra dosh as it's a one-off game?

Sorry, but haven't read all the threads and just wondered whether there would be enough left when they go on general sale?

Cheers

What hours is the club shop open on non matchday saturdays?

9am to 5pm

Does anyone know, if they have been released yet, how the Club Wembley tickets (2nd Tier) are going, sales wise?

My boss had seats there for the Oxford game and said it was a great view and bar and toilets facilities were worth the extra dosh.

Do you think people are spending that extra dosh as it's a one-off game?

Sorry, but haven't read all the threads and just wondered whether there would be enough left when they go on general sale?

Cheers

Anyone had any luck getting Tier 2 tickets? Please speak to me. I don't smell...much....

I get a little wound up by daytrippers who think they're Swindon Town experts on the basis of one game they've watched on Sky but such is life. (as Luci states) We need these people to sell out our allocation.

Paternity leave plus one member of staff leaving equates to myself not only unable to get to Wembley but also unable to watch the game on TV.

If we sell our allocation of 36,700 and Millwall do too then are there more tickets available? For a 90,000 capacity staduim that still leaves 16,600 empty seats? Surely cant be for segregation reasons?

That's not a high bar round here :) But as sutton so kindly pointed out, finding yourself agreeing with me should usually be taken as a red flag you've got something hideously wrong

Tbh, it doesn't matter much, so long as there are enough left when they go on general sale for non-season ticket holding fans to get the tickets they need and none left by next Friday

As long as you keep it flying high, we'll never die.

I don't really care about all the day trippers as such, as long as no town fans miss out on tickets which is not going to happen unless they've booked a holiday to Egypt or Spain.

It won't stop me from looking down on them though (check out the irony, check out the humour) :)

There are some Club Wembley seats not on sale, a segregation on both sides of the ground, executive tickets for each of the clubs, and presumably a whole load of FA and FL representatives who fancy popping along too. I reckon what we've been given is all we'll get.

As I recall, the ticketing arrangements were a bit shoddy in those days. My ticket cost 46 shillings (£2-30) and I do remember a fair amount of scrapping, possibly due to there being a fair Spurs contingent amongst our support.

Earlier in the season myself and my Italian AC Milan supporting friend agreed that if Milan made the champions league final or town made it to Wembley we would go.  Unfortunately, even after considering flying back for one day (the day of the match) I really cant justify spending so much money on the flights and tickets.  Gutted but hope to be able to watch it on the internet.

No, but if an extra 500 buy season tickets because of this that's a significant amount of money. And I bet the club is making a small fortune out of merchandise sales from all those who don't have any Town tat to display

Only twice before has the attendance gone over 67k, so we should beat that combined and there is a fair chance the record may go as well - just under 77k for Man City vs Gillingham.  Bolton played in one a few years before they reached the top and had a total attendance of 31k at Wembley for the game!

I just think things have slowed up as most of the people who wanted tickets would have gone for it on Friday as soon as they became available.

I just expect a trickle of sales between now and Friday and our final ticket sold number to lie at around 32k?

How to purchase play-off tickets
Posted on: Mon 24 May 2010

Swindon Town will play Millwall in the League 1 Play-Off final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 29th May 2010.

The Robins have been allocated 36,700 tickets for the game in the West side area of Wembley.

Tickets available from the STFC Box Office

An allocation of tickets have now been made available for sale from the STFC Box Office.

These tickets will be on sale from 8.30am Tuesday morning.

Ticket sales so far have reached 28,643 as of Monday lunchtime.

cost isn't a factor anymore seeing as it's only £32 & £42 tickets left which means we've snapped up all the expensive ones.

They do need to highlight that tho rather than put it just under purchasing play off tickets,I only looked on the off chance many will still think it's ticket zone only still.

I agree that they should highlight it more. May be an email to the club (I have) or Nick Watkins may help?

The more the merrier!  :beers:

I am pretty sure the adver will run an article on it tomorrow as the club will want to attract as many daytrippers as possible plus they might go in the shop and buy some merchandise as well.

I said total cost, inc. travel, food, beer....the total day will prob come to £100 minimum for every fan.
For a flaoting fan with little disposable income, that would be enough to put them off for sure...

Yeah, I think if you had the money to spend you would have got a ticket by now BUT, it is payday soon and also if there are some spare seats on any coaches that are going, that may sway people.....

what millwall factor? you mean being scared of going cos it's millwall?!!!

To a regular fan...not going to be much of a disincentive.

If you live locally, don't go to (m)any games, were thinking of taking the wife and kids to Wembley for a day out and wanted to see what the football thing was all about...Millwall's reputation might just sway you in to not going.

Gutted if we don't reach 30k.

If we win, I think I'd be able to handle the disappointment of a Swindon attendance figure starting with a '2'.  (That said, I'm sure we will sell a few thousand more.  Maybe not a complete sell out of our allocation, but there will be enough of us there on Saturday for there to be an impressive sea of red & white.)

Title: Re: We have sold...
Post by: RedOx on Monday, May 24, 2010, 15:39:19
We have overachieved this season (is the nicest possible way!) and Saturday is an unexpected bonus.

Whereas with Oxford, this really was a make or break match for them. I know many Oxford ST holders who were thinking of not renewing next year.

After 4/5 seasons down there and leading the league by a mile at Christmas, they had to win. A loss would have sent them spiraling even lower...if that was possible!

So 30k is not too shabby.

Yup, I spoke to a load of "kind of interested in football, but not necessarily a Town fan" types over the weekend who said precisely this ie they'd watched the Charlton 2nd leg, were excited/interested about us getting to Wembley and would probably have gone with kids if it had been Huddersfield, but were put off by Millwall/the cost

Not really a choice in my case mate. Me and Joe were never going to miss it, youngest got swept up in the excitement so he wanted to come as well having steadfastly refused to come to football until now (his first game is going to be at Wembley - how do I break it to him that it's not always like that? "Sorry, son, it's all downhill from here), my stepson's been on and off for years so more than happy for him to come. So all in all it seemed a bit mean to leave the missus at home. As long as she's got all the housework done, of course :)

An allocation of tickets in each price range have now been made available for sale from the STFC Box Office.

These tickets will be on sale from 8.30am Tuesday morning.Ticket sales so far have reached 28,643 as of Monday lunchtime.

The cost has definitely been a factor.  We went for £62 seats, but with travel on top and the crap that my lad wanted from the STFC shop, it's come to £200 and that's just for three of us. I've whacked it on the credit card and will worry about it later, but if you're not really that bothered, you probably couldn't justify it.  Saying that, a few mates of ours who initially said they couldn't afford it have been on the phone today asking what the ticket situation is because they now want to go!  No doubt others will follow suit as the week goes on particularly if they go to the ground.

An allocation of tickets in each price range have now been made available for sale from the STFC Box Office.

Over the weekend there was only £32 tickets left.  I'd be a bit pissed off if I'd got one of them because there was nothing else available only to find all prices are suddenly available again today?

I just think it has a better atmosphere and surroundings. The new Wembley has lost the magic of the old Wembley. Like tonights game when all those 'fans' missed Glen Johnson's goal because they were getting another beer.
At least the Millenium would be at capacity. When I watched the Blackpool Cardiff game on Sat I lost some of the excitement I had for this Sat. It looked like a league 2 play off with all those empty seats. I had an image of a sea of Red and Blue on Saturday, like in '93, but now I know that isn't going to happen.

Plus I think we would sell all of our tickets if it was at the Millenium and Millwall wouldn't. I just hope we can out sing them though. But I doubt that'll happen as there fans that will there will be more 'hardcore' than ours.

I just mean by 'hardcore' they obviously have a bigger following than us, therefore I'd expect them to out sing us as a lot of our fans on Sat will be family tag alongs and daytrippers.

Anyway less with the negative...white kit, allocation not sold, saying I'd rather see it at the Millenium (what a prick!), lets look on the bright side.
Millwall fans outnumbered Scunthorpe by 4 to 1 last year and that didn't do them any good. I don't care if we plsyed it at Mannington Rec, as long as we win I'll be happy.

Nah, I went to the old wembley several times and I've been to the new wembley a couple of times and it is so much better. The old one was falling to bits, the staircases were crumbling, the roof leaked and almost everywhere you sat there was a massive pillar in the way. Also, the atmosphere was always shit at the old wembley for England friendlies anyway and no different from the new one. I prefer the new wembley to the millenium as well, although they are both great stadiums.

Millwall will sell their allocation, probably today or tomorrow, which they should do when you consider the difference between our average gates and the small matter of being in London.

Around 32k would be pretty good for us considering the gates we get, and compares favourably to 90 & 93.

Most are a bunch of money-grabbing glory-hunting twats, you'd have thought they'd have loved it. The cost wasn't an issue for me, my brother and my dad, we got the best seats and they'll be worth every penny as the opportunity to see your team play at Wembley doesn't come along very often. But on the other hand, the cost is the only reason why we won't be taking my niece and nephew as its doubtful they'd have enjoyed it anywhere near enough to make it worthwhile.

At the end of the day this is a 3rd tier match and the ticket prices are a disgrace. Having the club state the ticket prices are set by Wembley and nothing whatsover to do with them is complete bollocks and insulting. The Football League (and in turn all the clubs) agreed to sign the deal with the FA and Wembley to host the games and pricing would have been a major part of that agreement.

To add insult to injury, fuck all of the ticket money actually ends up with the clubs involved - under 10% of it.

All very well for you to say as (I assume) a single bloke, but it's not quite so easy for people with families. Me, the missus, three kids (one over 18) is well over £350 for tickets and coach alone. That's before we've paid for food, drinks etc at the "gouge them for all you can" Wembley prices. I'm looking at easily well north of 400 quid for the day. Not really a decision for me, wouldn't miss it for the world, and delighted to be able to give my kids a day out that they'll always remember. But then I've been a season ticket holder for years (the missus hasn't been much recently as she looks after our youngest so me and the 7 year old can go to games, but she's been following Town since she was a kid) and I'm fortunate enough to be (still) in a reasonably well paid job. But that amount still hurts when we're already stretched with all that boring stuff like keeping a roof over our heads, school uniforms, food on the table etc. If I was a casual fan, in a lesser paid job (or had lost my job in the recession or was worried I'm about to), I'd have to think very, very hard about whether we could really afford it. You might not be quite so blase and dismissive if your circumstances were a little tighter.

jonny's right - football really needs to take a long hard look at itself and whether it's going to be able to continue to pass on the cost of it's excesses onto ordinary fans in this way.

So what about people like me then? I'm a single parent plus i live up north, It would cost me around £100 in train fares  alone, That's without the actual match ticket and everything else, I just can't afford it no matter how much i want to go it's impossible, I have to settle for watching it on TV, I'm just lucky that i have Sky and i've added Sky Sports for a month just so i can watch this game as after that i won't be able to afford to pay £40 a month for Sky with all the sports.

I've been to a fair few away games this season and go to as many as possible but i don't get to go to as many games as i would like.

Yeah OK point taken I was more talking about people who are bottling it and using cost as an excuse, as one of my mates is, not people who have to fork out loads due to having to pay for kids etc. I was basing it more on him not going despite him living in Wilts; I live in Cardiff and am making the effort despite knowing I'll have to be a bit tight the next few weeks. However I am still surprised that we haven't sold out our allocation based on how many glory hunters there are in swindon

I don't know a single UK based Swindon fan who isn't going. Except those who are in Spain or Cairo. Or Sippo. None have used cost as an excuse.

I do know plenty of people who have only ever been to the odd game or (none at all) who are going. These people aren't really Swindon fans at all. There are more of these people paying quite ridiculous prices than genuine Swindon fans.

If it wasn't on telly we'd have sold out our allocation by now.

I do think 30000 is a lot for a team like Swindon. For me the wife and two kids it was over £100 that's not including the train and food. The fa really do rip us off at times. But thanks to mr credit and mr card we are going. Come on the Town

People are using cost as an excuse, which is a cuntish thing to do. One or two of our mates are doing it. I don't understand Swindon's population, I honestly don't. Most are a bunch of money-grabbing glory-hunting twats, you'd have thought they'd have loved it. This is a one-off opportunity in my book and fans, whether you're a huge fan or the occasional watcher, should embrace it. Unless of course all these people are gambling that we'll become mint and will be off to Wemble every year

A guy at work paid for himself, his wife, his mate and his 3 kids. Know how much that cost? Over £350 and that's just for tickets. I don't think it's an excuse at all, the only reason I'm going is because I've got my ticket, travel etc paid for me as a birthday present. I mean I would have gone regardless but against my better judgement! For one or two it's OK, but for the Town fans that have families to look after it's a fucking expensive day out.

I think 30,000 town fans is a hell of an achievement considering things like the cost, average home attendance and the fact we have been so shit for the past 15 years.

I really did consider going to the game but with plane tickets, game tickets and everything else it would have cost me well over a grand.

Have we hit 30k yet?

Title: Re: We have sold...

I think we stalled at 29k. which as I said isn't bad when you take into account our last 2 wembley appearances at a higher  level game, prices and wrongly or wrongly the fact it is millwall and  some day trippers may be put off.

Title: Re: We have sold...
Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 08:47:49
mixture of high prices and millwall will put a lot of people off but then we will have almost 30k there which will still make a lot of noise for the lads

Title: Re: We have sold...
Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 08:59:30
I think 30k in the current economic climate is bloody good, the prices were not cheap at all, I remember when we played at Wembley in 93 the cost of my ticket was £8 when the average price at the CG was about £6 a ticket.

What with it being Millwall as stated...that will inevitably put a lot of timid glory hunters/families off going, even though trouble has rarely taken place in and around Play Off finals at Wembley in the past.

Every Town fan there will do us proud, and I will be bursting with pride no matter what, even though I won't be there with you all.

Yes..along with all the semi final ties, all pooled in together and split four ways.

No it doesn't.

The revenue (ticket sales less costs) from the semi-finals is pooled and half of it is shared between the 4 teams and half the revenue from the final is shared between the 2 teams. The other half of the money from the semi-final and final goes in to the Football League pool, which I believe is shared out amongst all teams. There is no TV money either as the games are part of the main TV deal.

If you add up all the extra income from the playoffs (tickets, merchandise etc) then deduct all the expenses the club will end up with it's an extra £250k. Which as I said before is taking the piss when the gate receipts for the final alone will be around £4m.
