Title: Wembley forum comments from Swindon supporters ...
Post by: Red Away Kit on Sunday, May 30, 2010, 10:11:06
Well, before you ‘click’ off … just take a few moments to read what I have to say.

There are various comments elsewhere in cyber land, from Swindon fans, telling of their stories and gripes from Wembley. May I, as a football fan, just correct, or give a balanced reply to some of those vile scumbag remarks, or statements, that some of your fans have made.

Firstly, aggro? Yes, what aggro? We’re told that Millwall fans were taking the piss out of the Swindon fans as you left the stadium car parks? If you had won, would your fans would have been more modest? No.

How many coach windows were smashed … ssssh … I can hear the silence. The fans that were verbally abused? Well, according to many Millwall persons alighting at Wembley Central, Swindon also have a ’moronic’ section of fans … don’t you?  To the group of Swindon heavies [cough … laugh] who rounded on a bloke with his 7 year old child, well done, be proud eh? Scum.

No matter what some of your disgruntled fans write, you were out played for most of the game. You had one clear chance, the pitch put paid to that, … also, you had a couple of half chances, but that’s all.
If you need to take out your frustrations on anybody, why do you bother going the easy stereotypical route eh? Why not turn your venom to your incompetent team, rather than the vast majority of the 38,000+ Millwall support who went to Wembley to have a good day as innocent football supporters.

The thing that makes a supporter of a CAPITAL club annoyed is fans from teams in the ‘Shires’ getting above their station. Social deprivation in Swindon? Seriously, we’ve got council estates bigger than large swathes of your TOWN.

Remarks like “pikey cunts” just make you sound like you’re copying somebody else’s rhetoric/bias ‘inflamed’ view of Millwall supporters … Ironically, fans of west ham, who now mostly reside in Essex, which has the LARGEST concentration of? You guessed it … traveller camps in the UK … so where’s your evidence eh? A small travellers camp alongside a railway arch near to Millwall? That’s hardly convincing evidence.

I just wish some of the many Swindon fans, who walked down the steps of Wembley Park tube without any problems, would get the opportunity to put some of your ‘incorrect’ comments into the recycle bin, where they deserve to be. You were playing against a club that has had, a bad reputation for well over 100 years. This was the result of ongoing government failing to invest in the community in and around Millwall’s ground. So social disorder raised it’s head long before the ‘beautiful’ game’ went corporate … BUT, we, like possibly you also? Got left behind.

We chant “No one likes us, we don’t care” And quite frankly, after reading some of the stereotypical statements from Swindon fans on various forums, well, can you really blame us for having that opinion of ourselves?

I wish your team well for the future … but to the ‘moaners’ … get an education.

i think you ought to read some more of the threads. nearly all the discussion on here is about our performance and our lack of support and plenty give credit to millwall for making a lot of noise.

personally i don't think i saw a single millwall fan yesterday outside the ground, aside from an oldish bloke on the train into paddington!

Ive said it before but all that "no one likes us " crap is total bollocks. Most people,me included, dont really give a shit about you one way or the other-you're just another small football club, like us with a moronic element of fans. Now go and celebrate your 15 minutes of fame and leave us alone please.

I've got no idea what you're talking about - not seen/heard any comments like those you complain about. You clearly have a massive inferiority complex, no doubt well merited. But shouldn't you be concentrating on your (well-deserved) win? You outplayed us and outsang us yesterday - we were utter shit. Well done. Now please fuck off

Scum.

I thought it a bit strange that on the way out and in the car park..Millwall fans didn't seem interested in celebrating their win, but rather having a go at Swindon fans.

I did see one bloke shaking peoples hands....well played, good luck next season etc, thought there might have been more of that sort of thing, given most of the Swindon based Millwall fans I know are decent types.

As for the atmosphere...it needed something to happen on the pitch....for whatever reason it didn't.

I think day trippers are ace....more the merrier for me.   Biggest moaning I heard yesterday was from some who've not missed a game all season....their main beef being that we've had nothing in midfield all season, and could do with someone like Lee Collins...no really....

This despite only losing 8 league games all season, only bettered once in our time long Div 3 history.

Heads need clearing, the last thing wee need is a hangover at the start of next season.

Millwall fans go on and on about how everyone perceives them, but it's them who believe it and feel they have to live up to it.  It went off twice at Wembley Central, the second time in front of about 50 kitted up old bill.  Brains or what.

They can't even win gracefully, and that just about sums them up.  Fucking jokers.

Brief pleasant chat with one Lions fan coming out of Wembley Park Tube - pleased for you mste.

after the match on my way back to the tube being told I'd had a nice day out, lost and should now fuck off  by one of a group of six - bloke looked surprised when I answered back (didn't tell him to F*** off or anything) and carried on walking

1/10 on a scale of hooliganism but chippy none the less.  I was too happy for my own team when we had won in 90 & 93 to take that kind of attitude.

Wouldn't have mentioned but Lions fan asked - actually about in line with what I would've expected based on past experience.

We do not indeed like you and actually we don't care either, so try and enjoy life a bit and F*** off please.

Our coach was saying exactly the same thing, never seen a large amount of supporters so disinterested in the fact they'd just won promotion.  Quite sad really.

As others have said, why don't you just disappear, enjoy your promotion and leave us alone.  Pretty pathetic that you've won and still got nothing better to do that come on here talking crap.  PISS OFF

banter is one thing and I don't mind a bit. but when you get a few knobs coming up to you when with family giving it large about how we would get battered and doing that spas millll chant in your face. well you just laugh at them really. can't remember another set of fans acting like that though.

it was the goading after the match while on the coach that I didn't like. fair play to the coach next to us that seemed intent on getting out the car park no matter how many millwall fans he took with him. that said ob were slow to clear the way. presumably too busy eating wembley mini doughnuts leftovers to do their job.

and fair play to the piss taking lads at the back of coach 48. brightened a grim car park exit! "yeah 1 0, but my daughter isn't as fat as yours". childish I know.

Fair do's, your support excelled our in the singing stakes but I did observe a few things that were dismaying. The moment I stepped out of Wembley Park station, enjoying my beer (purposely not wearing my scarf because it was completely heaving with Millwall fans), I stopped beneath the steps of the station. A couple emerged decked out in red, the wife holding her toddlers hands down the steps. A universal chorus with much gesturing of arms went up of 'Who the fucking hell are you?' That registered an early note in me of wariness of your lot. The reputation is clearly earnt.

Yes.

Yes we would have been more modest, because we have class. No matter how many fans you take, how much noise you make or how many games you win. Millwall will never, ever have any class about them what so ever.

A large majority of your fans, chose coming out to give it the big 'un infront of us than celebrating your play off win in the stadium for fuck sake.

If we'd won we would have been inside Wembley for the next 45 minutes celebrating our promotion, not running outside to shout abuse at the losers and then make a moronic single sound.

Dont try and tell us it didnt kick off, because it fucking did - you're scum. Championship scum, but scum still the same.

Yeah, you've got a bite now kindly fuck off.

Yes.

Yes we would have been more modest, because we have class.

I think that's going a bit too far. I personally don't have any class and feel upset about being accused of it! I'm sure had it had been a victory against Oxford an element of our support would have done the same.

But this should have been a football purists day, two good sides with no particular history of malice at a neutral venue. But its Millwall, a history of malice against the whole world.

From the news of the world site:

By julie.. Posted May 30 2010 at 10:40 AM.

i went as a neutral and Millwall deserved the win and their fans were terrific,i thought the Swindon fans were very unsporting as they cleared their end in the matter of minutes and didnt stay to even applaud their losing team let alone their victors, congrats to Millwall and good luck next season

Is this true? I was in Slough by the time the trophy was awarded. Didn't anyone stay to applaud our side?

I stayed and applauded the players, more for the season as a whole than yesterday's performance.  Noticed Billy put the ball up his shirt as well.  Felt quite upset at the sight of Charlie inconsolable with a towel over his head and just about stopped the tears myself.  Danny Ward was also particularly distressed with various people comforting him. Exited just as Millwall were about to lift the trophy, had no interest in seeing that.  Judging by the number of Millwall fans who we crossed on the way back to the coach, seems like most of them didn't either!

I reckon there were still 20,000 people in the Town section when Millwall started climbing the steps. We stayed and clapped our team for over 10 minutes then when the announcer (understandably) went all "aren't Millwall wonderful" people started to leave en masse. It's no more or less than I'd expect from any other team's fans.

Our fans were very gracious in defeat and definitely did not leave the stadium en masse at full time, shame Millwall's don't know how to be gracious in victory.

If it happened, it was a reaction to provocation which wouldn't have happened against most other clubs. If anybody at football goes asking for trouble it's their own fault if they get it.

If it didn't happen then I maintain my argument, hypothetical though it may be.

To be fair al the way down Wembley way we had fans shaking our hands wishing us luck. The wembley park thing was funny. We came out of the station and there must have been 2000 under that bridge singing who the fkin hell are you. We stopped on the stair and i held my scarf up high. The only trouble we had were two 9 year olds swearing at us. Hmmm little fkers. Anyway. Apart from Charlton at home our form hasnt been great since the 3.0 at Leeds. Yep, that was definitely you then, really felt for you at the time. Glad the experience of thier lot improved because I can imagine that was pretty disturbing. There's some things that just aren't done, if they had any decency, and hurling full throttled abuse your way when you had a little kid with you is certainly one of them! That made me seethe.

Apart from the fkin bit i found it quite funny and wished it was on video. The wife is a manc season ticket holder and has had worse at Liverpool games. One of my boys is autistic so he needs to experience all kinds of things. We were at the Den 3 weeks ago and he had his scarf on and was getting nasty looks from grown men now that isnt right.
Medway, I have an autistic son. I wasn't planning on taking him to Town games. I thought this doomed me to the Premiership. Mine is 12, interested in your experiences.

We came out of wembley park much the same. My boyfriend was waving his scarf high above his head and Jayohaitchenn opened his jacket to reveal his shirt.... Obviously this started the thousands of millwall outside chanting.
I lost my group in the chaos coming down the steps so walked through all their fans for ages on my own with my 11yr old son and can count the amount of police we saw on my fingers. Not once did i encounter anything bad other than football banter! I smiled and laughed my way through them. It wasnt too nice but i was at no point scared.

Sorry didn't read all the threads, but I was drinking in the Globe from 10am onwards and it was all millwall. No hassle when swindon fans were nearby and just wish that those fans had come into the pub and not avodied it. I'm sure it would have been ok.....but you never know.

those millwall fans were ok but if poeple had hassle with some elsewhere then fair enough.

Only saw one incident. About 2.45 was looking at the swindon fans arriving whilst having a beer in club wembley (is that great or what!!!!) and saw a bit of trouble outside the turnstiles. One big lad had 3 blokes having a go....police nowwhere.

Not sure if he was swindon or millwall but took a bit of a battering.

Did anyone see the doorman at the Bear pub. Very erm....short. Must have been a hard fucker!
To the two ladies at the pub in paddington that were there for the weekend, sorry but I was well pised and probably talked bolloxs as I am now!!!

Yeh saw that little bouncer, all of about 5 ft. Upon going in he asked if I was a Swindon fan. I pointed to my scarf, apparently not evidence enough, so whilst his colleague was ready to usher me in he insisted on me producing the ticket. No probs though, he was polite about it. Service was very swift in there.

I was right next to that incident outside the turnstiles. It was a 'Wall fan who got battered. To be fair, the police were onto it as quickly as they could to prevent it from escalating.

Did any of our fans leave at the end to have ago at you. I am not for one minute calling you a liar. But our end was still packed half an hour after the game, We have our problem supporters we know that, I dont think swindon are on there radar  though, What i saw from us was a large noisy support. I walked back to Wembley stadium overground after the game your coaches were leaving. Hand on heart i never saw one incident not one, Am i blind or are you being over sensitive

Dont try and tell us it didnt kick off, because it fucking did - you're scum. Championship scum, but scum still the same.

Yeah, you've got a bite now kindly fuck off.

Yes, loads of them.

It surprised me they left so quickly. Very little violence after the game that I saw personally, but that wasnt my point.

The fact thousands of Millwall fans chose to come out and take the piss rather than celebrate your win, well thats not right is it?

My parents and brother had a bottle thrown at them from a Millwall pub on their way to the ground.  They were walking with a group of others, luckily no-one got hurt.  Perhaps the Millwall lot can try and justify that one.

I actually had a fair bit of banter with some Millwall, i didn't see a single fan that was living up to the stereo type. Well, we went past once group and they saw a friends town top, so started saying something then we said well done, had a bit of friendly banter stood with them for a few mins chatting, then walked on.

Everyone had a different experience on the day. We've all had the normal bit of football banter, the chants, the odd V sing or the w*nker etc etc. And thats fine! But from my experience at wembley , Millwall fans lived up to their name and took it that bit further. The spitting, the old throat slitting actions! Lovely. It was not nice to have a 10 year with us that looked scared, but we just told him we were on the coach and nothing would happen! Their fans were immense inside wembley, I am not going to Deny that but outside the ground it was just OTT and I am glad we won't be playing them again next season. I dislike Bristol City, but I sure hope they deck them on the pitch next season.

Oh don't get me wrong Sade, i wasn't trying to defend them, just giving my story. Millwall are undoubtedly arseholes in the main and from the masses of police, Wembley Central being closed, amongst other things, it only makes it obvious.

From my experience Millwall fans were a credit to their club. Went back to the Green Man after the game, when we went to leave we was told not to walk down the street round the front of the pub by the bouncers because it was full of Millwall. Decided to ignore their advice and ended up walking to the train with masses of Millwall fans.
Kept quiet at first but then chatted to a few of them about the game. The 5 of us got on the train with it packed with their fans and not one of them even had a bad word to say to us, from my experience they were very gracious in victory as most of us were in defeat.
They out-played us, out-sung and at the end of the day they finished higher than us in the league so fair play to them. To keep 3 clean sheets in their play off games needs applauding.

Now I've heard the Town lads were out last night and I've heard a load of day trippers were giving them shit for not turning up Saturday. That really pisses me off. Ok they can all play better than that but as I sat at Gillingham first game of the season I never expect us to play at Wembley this season. They've had a great season and can be proud of the football they've played this season and how hard they worked...I hope they all got pissed, they deserve to.

My comment was based on what I know as a fact from the game.  I can't comment on who did or didn't vandalise a car - and if true then that certainly isn't acceptable from either set of fans.

As for the "where you come from comment" I'm guessing that was just to add a bit of humour to your post.

This Millwall bashing is pretty tiresome.I have heard enough things that our fans did on saturday that were not all pleasant. Can anyone really rememberany trouble between us at ANY game we have with them? I don't.

Face it you go to a nightlub with 2000 people in it you get trouble every night. Go to a game where you have 75000 people you are bound to get pockets of trouble no matter who you play.

It is shit for people who got caught up in it of course it is but i'm fairly certain there are Millwall fans who are sat at home saying those Swindon fans are wankers did you hear when they did this that and the other.

I was outside Baker Street, The Globe pub and it was actually quite a laugh, though I suspect if i'd worn my colours things would likely have been very different. Undercurrent of aggression that could easily have flared up. But as it was, all good natured. Fans dodging heavy traffic to kick footballs into the air. One funny moment when one landed onto a police van and got wedged. The avalanche of cans that were hurled to try and dislodge it succeeded in releasing it. For all their mis-directed chants of 'Who the fucking hell are you?' (i'm talking where families were involved) I never saw a modicum of violence. Millwall are old-school, we knew what to expect, but I think we might be over-exaggerating things a tad.

every club has a minority of people who want to go looking for and/or cause aggro. they're not the same set of people who drink all day, have a sing song and act a bit obnoxious.

the difference with millwall is they have a reputation. rightly or wrongly i don't know, i've not been around long enough. as far as i can tell millwall think anyone is fair game.

from my experience on saturday, the only "abuse" directed at me was from a few town fans outside wembley.

I think its the targets of your fans cuntishness ( the young, the old, the infirm and the outnumbered ) that is the problem as well as the volume of cuntishness. As someone else said lads aint' going to give a shit. When Town fans gave it back your lot didn't take it very well. Your older fans really need to get a grip as your young lads coming thruogh are total aresewipes. On the positive side, one day they will be given a very painful lesson.

I to was at the globe and it was very good natured. I wasn't wearing colours so it may have been different if i was but the millwall i spoke to there were ok. Saw some swindon blokes with their kids standing about 20 feet away and no one said a word to them.

I know a few Millwall fans through work and apart from wallowing a little in their reputation, there all good blokes and genuine fans.
I saw no violence on the day and most of the banter pre match was good natured.
What surprised me a little was how aggressive they were after the game. I'd expect a bit of taunting and piss taking. We would have given that out if we'd have won, but to get threats and serious abuse off the majority of their fans of all ages while stuck on a minibus waiting to leave was a bit of a shock. After 20 minutes or so it had got very tedious.
They'd won the game at a canter, what the fuck was their problem!

ok then this is not 4th time lucky, im from london, not millwall area thank god, and listen and listen really carfully as i only say this once ok, if your little brain can take this, you are now in championship, you are now up against some big boys off and on the pitch, be prepared for some lessons, and lets hope you learn from them, you may not care where you go to but let me assure you on this when you get to the likes of sheff u, bristol city, cardiff, you will all be taught a lesson that hopefully you will all learn from, and then next season we will await your return, now get off this SWINDON site as its called SWINDON site for a reason, and is not for thick pricks like yourself, so goodbye, and fuck off.

I have been up all fucking night, I am waiting for a new hip. So let this sink into your head. I am not some burberry clad youth. I have been to all of the grounds you mention. They hold no fear. We are Millwall you see. Not some yokel team from a yokel town. I came onto your board as a fellow football supporter and you tell me to fuck off. I think that says alot more about you than it does about me

Chalkies Shorts is exactly right.

My group on the way took some verbal abuse on the Jubilee and at Wembley Park. We were aged between 16 and 65 and to a degree were fair game, although my mates dad obviously felt fairly uncomfortable.

The two old Swindon fans we saw on Wembley way being spat on and called 'yokel cunts' shouldn't attract that sort of thing.

I travelled up to Wembley on my own from Surrey and saw no trouble. After the game a different story! Whilst walking to Wembley Park station two of our fans having handbags on the corner of the street! Both wearing town colours and hi-vis vests with some construction company name on their backs  Did make me chuckle. I went home via pubs in Trafalger Square, Embankment and Morden and although everywhere was full of Millwall fans the most offensive thing they did was shout their silly Miiiii chant (which i was sick to death of come the end of the night!)

Title: Re: Wembley forum comments from Swindon supporters ...
Post by: swindon/london on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 13:29:30
Ok, let me start by saying I was born and raised in Swindon before the big city lights attracted me to London. I remember the last play offs and resulting short stayed affair of the Premiership and had tickets then and have done ever since, so i'm not just some 'day tripper'! Not that there was anything wrong with the 25,000 odd extras from the usual County Ground attendance - which is bound to happen and I for one was pleased to see so many fill our half of Wembley. It's rude, bordering on disgusting that many treat these fans with very little regard and discontempt with others complaining to a lack of noise, etc, etc!

There were many young fans and families that went to the game and my only hope is that they were not put off by some Swindon 'fans'. I was sat in block 547 and there were 3/4 guys, near the front, baseball caps and long hair, mid twenties at a guess, who by all defenitions were absolute morons! Screaming at the family areas, swearing that they were not supporting, standing to obscure everyones views at innapropriate times and acting in a confronting manner - they did not come for the football judging from the stone island attire and vile gestures, so we have those types of supposed fans aswell before we bash Milwall to much...

With regard to Milwall I appreciate there was some violence from the Milwall fans (and I would guess our more seasoned fans were no angels either) and as with most violence it is generally aimed pathetically at the easy targets (e.g. buses with families). However there support during the game was fantastic, a cauldron of noise they created so well done.

On the whole it was a good day out, it was a shame but on reflection if you were a neutral it was Milwalls game and thoroughly deserved. The 'day trippers' made the day that little more special, i'm not sure how many of you "Swindon till I die" fans can say you don't want them there - they create volumes of extra revenue via ticket, shirt and transport sales (are some of you unawares to this?!?!). The team have exceeded expectations so congratulations, especially Charlie Austin, who you hope will bounce back strong after the pitch incident.

No, it's spectating. It's better than not going, but on it's own it's not playing the full part of being a supporter. It's a pretty sterile debate though really. Yes, of course we'd all rather have had 32,000 there on Saturday than 10,000 or whatever. But we'd all rather have had 32,000 fully getting behind the team, wishful thinking though that may be

If you cant find any passion, to even stand up and cheer the team - 10 minutes to go, 1-0 down in a play off final then you arent a supporter, as pauld says you're a spectator.

I think there's a lot of truth in that.  Both groups (supporters and spectators) have every right to be there.  And next time we're in a similar situation, I hope we find a way of segregating the supporters and the spectators so the supporters can have a good sing (and generate some atmosphere, hopefully) and the spectators can enjoy the spectacle without fear of intimidation.

Despite one of the comments made earlier in the day, I think it's probably in Wembley's interests to help facilitate this.  In the longer run, the stadium could acquire a reputation for being a soulless bowl with no atmosphere - which no-one wants, least of all the stadium owners.

It was great towards the end when Swindon started pouring forward and the whole Swindon end jumped to its feet and roared the team on. Unfortunately, that was with around 30 seconds to go. Although as many have said, it might have been partly due to the fact we never looked dangerous.

I agree with Ardiles about the "segregation". It's in the interest of the fans, the team and Wembley.

I think that's a massive factor. If we'd actually done something on the pitch the support would have been a lot better. There was fuck all for people to get excited about and I personally think the criticism of the support has been a bit OTT, as indeed it has been all season.

I'd say there was plenty of noise before the game - everyone seemed to be joining in then without being 'encouraged' by the 'look at me' brigade.

Unfortunately the performance on the pitch didn't keep that momentum going. I'd agree it was poor during the game. It's a chicken and egg situation for me.

I'm not one of the most vocal persons in the ground, but I take umbrage at being called a 'non supporter'.

This might be bollocks but i think the lack of singing/chanting was down to the way the tickets were sold?  :hmmm:

In 90 and 93 we all turned up and qued, the loyal supporters were all there early? waitng for our tickets.
So when the tickets were purchased they were all close together? So when the singing began it carried around to the others in the stadium. I can still remember to this day the COYR in 1993 was so loud you felt it inside you?

As I said this may be bollocks.

was in block 232 after originally buying seats in 129, i regretted that massively after being continuously told to sit down...because they had some 'town fan' sat behind text in complaining from their mobile phone....allegedly of course....no atmosphere at wembley on saturday and there will only be an atmosphere there from a club our size if those that chant are in and around the same blocks....as much as I hated the lack of atmosphere, I for one would be happy with a place in the final next year right now and would hope that lessons have been learnt from saturdays experience both on and off the pitch with a better result from both!
