It's hilarious, he's lost the plot totally. Haddin edged it and didn't walk in the same match. Lehman was billed as this calm bloke who'd restore the fun into Australian cricket...he's certainly improved the fun I've been having for the last six weeks.

Meh.  He has a point.  Lets be honest Broads the kind of fellow if he was Aussie we'd all be lining up to give him a good kicking!

We'll scarcely recognise the Aus team that takes to the field in Nov at the Gabba ......

Warner, Rogers, Clarke, Siddle, Harris and Lyon are probably the only ones who will be there.

I imagine Shaun Marsh will be at 3. Wade will be keeping. Pattinson if fit will be in the mix and if the pitches are quick and bouncy which they will be I expect Mitchell Johnson to feature.

Why would they drop Haddin? One of the few Aussies to have a decent series. Besides, their team has been unrecognisable from one test to the next and it's not exactly helped them. They now seem to be attempting to rectify the problem that none of their specialist batsmen have scored runs by not playing any.

Rumours flying that Kerrigan is playing.

Kerrigan and Woakes playing ..... Muy Surprised does not even begin to cover it!

I've always felt Woakes was a yard short of pace. He's been selected to lengthen the batting.  Its a surprising and slightly negative choice IMO.

Woakes is even worse than Bresnan. Dear oh dear. Lollipop bowling.

You clearly dont like him but Bresnan has never really let England down.  I do agree Woakes is gash.  Interessting to see who misses out for Kerrigan.

Any chance they could leave out Bairstow, bump Prior up to 6 as the one thing Woakes would do was extend the batting?

Edit:

According to Paul Newman on twitter Bairstow is going to be the one to miss out ....

Cook, Root, Trott, KP, Bell, Prior, Woakes, Broad, Swann, Anderson, Kerrigan

Extraordinary stuff ..... Prior up to 6 inspite of having not made a run in the series. That top 5 cannot afford to fail!  Its a bizarre change in strategy and reminds me of the test v West Indies last year were England experimented and as a result the performance was both a shambles and confused.

YES.

All for Woakes if it fucks Bairstow off!

I think Woakes is a decent shout for the all rounder spot, the boy is a genuinely good bat, not just a bowler who bats a bit. As a third quick and fifth bowler I wouldn't mind selecting him in place of Bairstow, not as one of two quicks mind.

As for the too slow argument, Stuart Clarke bowled slowly but wrecked us repeatedly. Skill over pace.

The South African bowler who opened with Steyn last year whos name illudes me right now is also an skill over pace advocate.

Based on his one days showings Woakes lacks both!

Woakes is playing over Baitstow, Kerrigan as a second spinner. Now this is interesting!

Based on his one days showings Woakes lacks both!

Agree to an extent, but he's a much better first class bowler in County Cricket- I'm all for giving him a chance.

Aussies win the toss and bat. This is where two spinners becomes tricky. If you could name the team after the toss spinners would have a lot more test caps...

:-)

Big match for Kerrigan.  Got wickets in County Cricket. But the two times I heard of him he got plastered by KP and Shane Watson.  Getting smashed around by KP i can live with.  But getting slapped about by Shane Watson!!!!!!

Aus win toss and bat. The negates Englands 2 spinner option to an extent.

First class average of 38 with 6 tons, well over 40 last few years. As I say, he is not a Tim Bresnan style handy bowler, he's a batting all rounder if anything. Can't do much worse than Bairstow, can he?
