Title: 670 minutes since we last scored from open play
Post by: glos_robin on Saturday, March 17, 2007, 21:27:15
I know I've mentioned this elsewhere but allowing for injury time its approximately 670 minutes since we last scored from open play does any else find this utterly ridiculous?
Thats January the 30th and Blair Sturrocks equaliser since Peterborough when we last scored from open play

**Please note goals from set pieces include headers from corners and are considered worked routines and count as set pieces./

Almost 700 fucking minutes, what are the odds on it reaching 1000?

That is shocking and pathetic to be honest.

I'd say that's alarming to say the least.

We need a proven goal scorer, now!

our last goal was from open play....

Soon as the ball leaves Browns foot from the free kick its open play....well I think so anyway!

There are lots of rumours regarding who Sturrock is bringing in on monday, some of the examples are stephen mcphee/barry corr/david graham/leon best.

I definitley do not think it is leon best as i watched the southampton game last night and best came on as a sub.

I think stephen mcphee is a possibility, very good scoring record when at port vale before he went to that portugese team, hasn't really had a chance at hull.

Also i could see barry corr coming here as he never gets a game at sheff wed.

No that's a set piece.

As I said the header from the free kick counts as a set piece. The players were in set positions at the start of the routine, it certainly wasn't open play

It's a set piece, same as it would be from a corner.

Perhaps a better way to define it would be to say "when did we last score from creating a chance in open play?"

This wording stuff is taking away from the point ..........Sturrock can blame fucking injuries all he wants but the goal scoring situation is something he should be at least partly accountable for!

Barry Corr is bollocks, don't want him here. Can't see Best coming but I'd be happy if Mcphee joined, he was class for Vale in 03/4.

Is it the mcphee who had a stint at brighton?

nah, this McPhee had a spell with Beira Mar in the portuguese top flight. Always seemed to score against us when he was at vale.
