It's looking a dead cert now: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54794975

Doesn't look great written down does it...

Since the start of the 2020-21 season Wellens has led Swindon to just three wins from eight matches, with the Robins 20th in League One.

I wonder how long he might have lasted if things didn't turn around.

It wont happen because no doubt it will be an internal appointment and the money wont be there for compo, but if the money was available i’d be going for Flynn from Newport, without a shadow of a doubt.

Absolutely not. Dont want to watch that hoofball crap

"Just" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Three wins out of eight is pretty middling, especially if there are draws in the equation too.

I’d like to see someone who is used to ‘firefighter’ situations - last time we trusted a rookie manager in League 1 we were relegated.

What’s Martin ‘mad dog’ Allen doing these days?

I suspect that the deal is done and will be announced early next week.

You're welcome

Was always going to happen if they were interested. I never understand people who expect loyalty in football these days. He's not from Swindon, he doesn't really care about the fans, it's just a job.

Of course they never say that when they get asked questions about loyalty, but why would they.

Did well last season, pretty poor this season so far. Maybe he's more comfortable with league 2?
Loyalty? Does that phrase count in football?

Graceless revisionism is such a comfort isn't it.

Last season was the first I've enjoyed in almost a decade. Wellensball was brilliant to watch and with resources, I'm sure he'll do well in the game - I see him in the Chris Wilder mould.

We're never attractive enough to hold onto our successful managers. Thanks and good luck to him.

The Cowley’s or Paul Cook in an ideal world but both are unrealistic

Would be surprised if it’s not Hunt, not because cheap option blah blah blah yawn but for continuity sake in what is already a weird footballing climate

Give Noel Hunt the managers job until the end of the season if he does go.

His response ‘Difficult. Club didnt see this coming’

Oh come on, everyone had an inkling they would be in for him as soon as Alexander got the boot!
