Title: Triallist
Post by: wokinghamred on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 15:53:02
Looks like we have a new triallist.....

Roughly translated means:

Free after the end of its contract to Nantes, Thomas Dossevi, who makes its preference of a tournament in England for this season, will spend next three days in Swindon. Put on probation by the club of League One, the Togolese international attacker will confront on Saturday the club of Nottingham Forrest (Championship) under the look of numerous watchers.

Dossevi, who also appears on the bars of Laval and Gates, person concerned by his contour of polyvalent attacker, could also rebound in Greece, where Kavala is, but also in Turkey outright. The club of Konyaspor would in effect like to become attached the services of ancient Nantais, past before by Valenciennes and Reims.

I think it means versatile.

According to thefreedictionary.com, it means:

'Acting against or interacting with more than one kind of antigen, antibody, toxin, or microorganism'.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/polyvalent

I'm with Billy.  I honestly thought we already had the antigen/antibody/toxin/microorganism angle covered.

"Put on probation by the club of League One, the Togolese international attacker will confront on Saturday the club of Nottingham Forrest (Championship) under the look of numerous watchers."

So this chap goes round the world attacking people and is currently on probation, yet we are letting numerous watchers witness him confront (and most likely attack) the entire club of Nottingham Forest?

He'll be in the slammer quicker than you can say 'contour of polyvalent attacker'.

I remember this player a long with Adebayor was caught up in the gun attack in the African Nations and called for the team to Boycott the event.  A few days later the team returned home

That or multi-purpose. Another player who can play in more than one position then!!

Ok so is this the same as multi tasking. If it is then i can tell my wife she is polyvalent.

She will either be impressed or i'll get a good slapping!

Somebody has been on wiki

"Thomas is the son of former Togolese player Antoine Dossevi.oung As of 27th July 2010, Dossevi is on trial with English League One Champions Elect, Swindon Town. Manager Danny Wilson commented "He reminds me of a young Dave Bamber"."

13, 8 and 9 goals a season in the top league in France which is a higher standard than league 1. Lets see how he plays today before making any opinions.

I went to watch Metz v Tours a few seasons back. The quality wasn't amazing but the standard was generally pretty decent.

Yes, I need to make snap judgements on this player now, if no YouTube clips are forthcoming, I'll have to fall back on the other most reliable source of information I have -

His second goal was a class header. OK, anyone can impress in one game, but on the strength of that he looks well worth a gamble.

Good header, especially with the ball behind him. Disappointed he was off at HT. Maybe worth a punt on Tuesday. What he did today at short notice, I reckon 6 month deal. Then look to extend.

With the way that many are talking I suspect he never will. He has for me though. The first time he came on I was impressed with him. But then I'd be impressed if I took a bird home, woke up and found my johnny unused and all I had to show for my amateur silver-tongue was stinky fingers.

V. Carlisle Pericard was brilliant and was massively unlucky not to score. Changed the game v. Norwich as well when he came on. I didn't go to MK but I can't think of a time when I've watched him and thought he's terrible...

He looked excellent in those clips (yes I know, Casali Yinka Casal and all that) From what DW said in his post match yesterday though, he sounds very keen on signing him providing he's not asking for silly money or a Championship club doesn't come in (Forest perhaps ???)

Would be a very good signing I reckon.

Title: Re: Triallist
Post by: Barnard on Sunday, August 1, 2010, 08:57:38
I thought he looked good yesterday, great header for the second goal.

Looking on his career history on the ever reliable Wikipedia, he doesn't seem to have made a lot of appearances for a 31 year old, is he injury prone?

As long as his wage demands aren't stupid I reckon he's worth a punt.

He does look good in those clips - hard working and strong. He also looks very, very right footed. Almost as if his left must be fir standing on and nothing else.

He does appear to play a great cross-field pass with his left on about 18/19 seconds?

EDIT: I can see what you mean though, he does look to be almost avoiding his left.

Title: Re: Triallist
Post by: Processed Beats on Sunday, August 1, 2010, 10:05:40
He couldn't have really done any more yesterday, played 45 minutes and still managed to bag two goals, the second of which was a brilliant header. He chased loose balls down, tracked back and was a real prescence up front, but i suppose thats to be expected of a trialist wanting to impress.

Give him another chance against Poole i say, maybe give him a full 90 minutes if we're not gonna play our first team. I'd be more than happy to take a risk on him after yesterday's performance.

Title: Re: Triallist
Post by: RedRag on Monday, August 2, 2010, 20:55:47
I went on the Nantes Forum and they seem to see him as an ok player perhaps not really cutting it in a top of tier two team in the French league.  Nantes are quite big in French football - Deschamps, Desailly, Makelele all played there in their early days - and they now start a second season outside the top division.

As his record would suggest, Dossevi is not seen on the Nantes forum as a striker - though he does have hot streaks, followed by long barren ones on the goal scoring front.

Not too fast but plays in space and generally has a good attitude

He's no Charlie and he may not even be a Billy-type target man.

Although I'd prefer a player with a good attitude to someone like Kandol, if anything happened to Charlie we may be a bit light on scorers.
