Title: Good Luck To AFC Wimbledon

Amen to that.  There will be lots of lovely press coverage in tomorrow's papers if they make it.

The Franchise operation seems to have stalled recently, with their customer base showing signs of faltering.  I expect they're looking over their shouders now.

Have to say I dont really want to go back to Luton.

They usually bring a good following to the CG though.

Be great if AFC can cut it down to 1 league.

This is the point at which the very name 'Franchise' starts to look a little ridiculous.

Q: So why do you call yourselves the 'Dons' then?
A: Because there's another League club, 60 miles away, called Wimbledon.

Ha!  I've been benned again!  Try typing 'M-K D-o-n-s' and see above for what happens.

Title: Re: Good Luck To AFC Wimbledon
Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, May 21, 2011, 17:37:59
Great news.

Surely now Franchise will have to drop the 'Dons' part of their name as there is only room in the league for one Dons.

Also opens up the possibility them meeting each other in the Carling Cup or JPT.

This result also puts two fingers up to the 2 men of the 3 men committee who let Franchise take their place in the FL, and then dismissed the possibility of a breakaway team ever succeeding.

absolutely massive result for real football tonight, no real illfeeling for luton but afc's promotion is a real kick in the face to anyone that thought that they were saving a club by allowing some club winkleman made up in his head take on the real dons subscription to the league.

shame on those that let this happen in the first place and even more so to those in mk that didn't have the foresight to see that it is possible to build a club from nothing with the correct guidance.

proof that real spirit can still make a difference.

a very proud fan a of real football tonight i am

They've had more money than most of the teams they've come up against, but that would have been because their crowds were much, much larger. I don't think they have a sugar daddy to speak of.

No, they are owned by their trust, The Dons Trust, so their supporters own them.

Their manager has said that they will have the smallest budget in League Two.

I think the majority of fans are probably happy to see the real wimbledon back in the league, although that'll all change when we play them next season and hear those awful cockney accents wailing out of the arkells. soon they'll just be another rival.

Would fucking love them to overturn the franchise filth though of course  :pint:

Some daft comments about di Canio.
Why would dC think that he will need and can attract players of his ability and style in L2?  Nothing he has said has suggested this so would have been better for the guy to keep quiet on that front.
I'm sure dC can learn pretty quickly about the type of team / player needed for L2 and he'll probably have a better chance of attracting them than the wombles will!

There is an article in today's FL Paper with Wankleman saying that as AFC has now joined the league, that both sides should now move on.

The only way for AFC to 'move on' is to see that Franchise go out of business.
