GiffGaff has appalling data speeds but I guess this isn't an issue for you minimal data requirements. If not, most of them come in at a similar price.
If you're a spotify, nowtv or sky sports mobile tv user (or this would be useful) and get a 12 month deal instead, you can get get a Vodafone bundle which includes one of those options free for 12 months. All in for £19.20 which also includes 12gb data (4gb roaming) , unlimited mins and texts (including roaming). Just a consideration.

If I can stream stuff without buffering on 4g, what does an appalling data speed mean?
Doug: I invented a program that downloads porn off the internet one million times faster. Marge Simpson: Does anybody need that much porno? Homer Simpson: Uuh-huuh-uuuh, one million times.

Appalling = less than 3g speed loads of buffering on Spotify.
Just based on 1.5 months of use before.i went back to Vodafone but plenty of people say the the same. Likewise, plenty of people complain about other networks.
My data connection is used in 3 counties daily (Wilts, Berks and Hamps)

Funnily enough I recommended Giffgaff to a mate earlier - I've never had any trouble with signal from Wales to Bristol/Swindon to London where I travel frequently. I guess YMMV on any network. I was 11 in 2002

Looking to sack vodafone off. Too expensive really. I'm thinking either Ee payg or giff gaff-talk talk mobile. Want sim only and their pricing looks good.
Can i take my number with me or is this a problem? reason for asking is that i don't generally give out my home number anymore so everyone has my current number. Starting from scratch doesn't really appeal at all.

Yes, when you cancel with vodafone as for a PAC number. You can then give this to your new supplier and they'll transfer your number over which may take a few days.

You just need the PAC code from Vodafone and give this to your new provider.
I just changed from Vodafone to Virgin Mobile and kept my number, however I get absolutely no signal or service whatsoever in South Marston Industrial Estate so will look to switch to O2 now as there are O2 masts nearby giving good reception.

yeah just ask for your PAC from voda, don't cancel.
the PAC is valid for 30 days and when you use it with your new provider, this will trigger the cancel with voda
