at present, who is your most disliked player at swindon?

and i dont mean: 'oh hes crap therefore i dont like him'

i mean 'hes bleeding the club dry, lazy, rude, arrogant, boozer, couldnt care less, aggressive, idiot etc

must give genuine reason not just hes crap

so heres mine, i did a top 3 cause theres quite a few....

in first place: GURNEY - idiot, the guy always gets booked, complete liability, aggressive and rude to the ref time and time again, when he knows what the outcome will be. its different to rooney, when fergie was accused of not calming him down cause it was part of his game, this is just gurney being complete prat. a club on our budget cannot afford to employ this liability. Oh and his insists on taking free kicks even though hes utter shite at them. rant over.

second place: ROBERTS - i genuinely believe this guy is bleeding the club dry without a care in the world. probably one of our highest paid players with little given in return, yes hes had his problems blah blah blah but hes a waste of space + when he does come on hes a lazy shite

third: pook + nicholas always on the lash even when we are playing shite v.disrespectful to the club, fans and iffy

I thought that too. Made a few dartin runs down the left flank, which is good to see from a wing back and won us a few free kicks, which Gurney kindly blasted over the bar or at the wall....

Considering how out of position Jack Smith was he had a reasonable game I thought.  He's looked out of position as wing-back as well yet he was made to play there.

Judging on Saturday's performance, the whole squads clueless. I was originally quite concerned at the lack of new contracts being signed, but now I think its probably a saving grace that not many of these wasters have put pen to paper. Although Peacock looked impressive when he came on, the rest of them lacked desire, determination and probably most importantly, they lacked talent of any kind. Long ball after long ball hoofed up to Cureton, who is frankly just too small... he can't compete. The best thing that could happen now would be if none of the current players (apart from Peacock) signed new contracts, and then we could finally rebuild. I think Onoura's days are numbered. Fairly or not, he will be sacked at the end of the season.

He shows passion - not many of the others do?! Yes he's agressive...so what its good, crunching tackles are what we need and lack, he mouths off-yes prob one of his main problems, alongside the bookings - but id rather have him booked every other game for actually giving a toss!

His freekicks yes have gone downhill, has had his screemers but now should pass them on...BUT do you not think its Iffy who puts him on free kicks? They do train after all and then pick their set piece takers??

Long balls....yes can be off target but on sat his raking passes were finding our players 9 times out of 10...he is one of the only ones at the back who actually looks composed on the ball and can drive on...therefore i agree with whoever said more or less a team of gurney's n and then we would have some fighting ( :wink: ) chance!

Personally we should play 442..and have gurns at right bk IMO his bst position.

Flash is correct about Gurney's good points, which far outweighs his negative gobbiness, but don't forget his positive gobbiness helping to drive the team.
 Yes his free kicks have been poor lately, but it is a disgrace that no midfielder is skilled or confident enough to do the job, as in the recent past we had Howard, Grunt Sniff, even Igoe. His job is defence, and we always look better and more solid when he plays, and he is by far the best distributor from the back we have.
I do prefer him CB , because he is an experienced calm head there and tends to be less rash than at RB or midfield.
Jack Smith has been poor defensively at RB  in my view, perhaps he is better at LB?

No adje I wasn't, it is strange how we all see completely different games. How I see it:

Ifil is a complete joke. He hoofs or slices the ball  away anywhere and usually gives possession away. He has had red cards but is a good tackler, but often when he has made a mistake. He has conceded several crucial goals by elementary mistakes. Easily turned by attackers. Makes mad excursions trying to beat player after player, then loses it and we are exposed.

O'Hanlon is overrated and does not lead the defence well. His distribution again is poor and he is uncomfortable on the ball, wasting or hoofing.

That makes two hoofers who cannot pass short or long.

Gurney, by contrast, is comfortable on the ball this season. He has used the short ball well when possible eg to Whalley, but his long raking balls are much better than the two hoofers, eg against Franchise, and even if not quite to our man, usually creates pressure and a throw-in is obtained. I'm not sure if he kickfouls more often than others, the hoofers concede many freekicks by fouling also , but he certainly gets tackles in, unlike some of the other weaklings.

He is a bit of a thug, but many opponents foul us cynically and brutally to take players out of the game, not fairly, one example being Whalley last week chopped down several times before his injury. An occasional rash challenge is to be expected. Mouthing at the ref is stupid, but at least he cares and battles. At CB, he has been much calmer than the other two, and I can't remember the last silly mistake by him.

I realise typing this is a waste of time, because you either love him or hate him. The  group of supporters by me every fortnight hate him, and will not recognise any good he might do. Anyway, that's off my chest, I have been very fed up with completely aimless hoofing all season and I DON'T BLAME GURNEY.

P. S. I did hate him when he was here before, but he is one of the best we have now IMO. We need battlers.

it was never intended as that, its just i hate the way gurney plays, he doesnt tackle he kicks and breaks bones, and when he gets booked he always seemed surprised! he needs to learn to stop being such a liability and learn how to tackle properly and if he concedes a free kick fine, just walk away accept it not earn another yellow by mouthing of.

this was never ment as an anti gurney thread but has now turned into one.

i havent got a problem with gurneys tackles as long as they arent blatant fouls like a few of his 2 footed lunges from behind! if he can control himself and stop mouthing off to the ref then he is certainly an asset to the team
