Title: Premiership loanee guess work
Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:43:56
I have a theory about who this mystery premiership loanee could possibly be. I recall Kingy or someone, saying that we were talking with West Ham over a season long loan.

If this is the case and this is where the midfielder is coming from i hope its Mark Noble who is 18 and just signed a new contract with them. He's supposed to be very good and would be the exciting signing Kingy has promised.

Anyone else care to hazard a guess at who it could be and where from?

He did well in the Championship though, so I doubt he'd want to come here.  Maybe if any championship club cannot offer him a regular place he might look at this league.

mark noble is a striker anyway - think we have enough of those now  8)

maybe it will be someone from sunderland as king's got good links up there? i'm sure we'll find out soon whoever it is

Chris Eagle is being mentioned at the adver forum, he'd be great.

Noble is an attacking midfielder, and looks talented for his age. Either him or Eagles would be good.

Well King said it would be a massive surprise so i'd imagine we should have vaguely heard of him.

Isn't Eagles a striker?  It would be great to have Milner again.  We are going to walk this league 8)

Winger.

I can pretty much confirm it won't be a striker, or King is even less intelligent than we previously thought.

Seriously in need of a left winger, and Eagles is left i think, am i right walrus?? so it would fit well, as our 3 wingers all went, howard, duke and grunt sniff

According to FM he is, I think so.  Have to say, Eagles isn't particularly exciting, so I would state he's not it.

Why is everyone so keen to get a left winger?  We've got Shakes....

because, unless i'm very much mistaken... shakes is a right winger!

Word on the street is Eagles who King was chasing on loan last season with Kieran Richardson.

From when Eagles was mentioned before:

Quote
He said: “I sent a fax to Sir Alex congratulating him on reaching 1,000 games in charge.

“I said that the only way I’d reach that many games was if he was to lend me Kieran Richardson or Chris Eagles.”

King joked that he was still waiting for a response, although both he and assistant Mike Walsh have cast an eye over Eagles in the Old Trafford club’s reserves.

He is a right sided midfielder but he had a loan spell at Watford last year so you'd think it'd be more likely he'd go to another championship side.

Would be great if it was him but could be any number of players. Nothings tied up yet anyway.

I think you are all missing something.  Kingy said this:

“I have something in place, although it’s not totally agreed yet, to take a DEFENDER on a year’s loan from the Premiership.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes but that to me suggests the player will be a defender :|

Apparently he is experienced.  Possibly someone from Everton?  Alan Stubbs has been told he is not needed.

I'm surprised he's been told he was not wanted.  That would be on a par with signing Mooney.

I know he is a quality defender

Like I said in the other thread, it WON'T be Stubbs. He's not signed a new contract at Goodison, and didn't show for pre-season yesterday. If he's not at the club, then how can he come to us on loan???

He wasn't told he wasn't wanted, but was offered a new contract (probably on reduced terms because of his age) and hasn't signed it.

Oh sorry I thought he was still under contract.  Would make sense though, experienced prem defender and Kingy has contacts at Everton.

Gary Breen anyone?  Can't remember where he is at the mo, but it must be either Sunderland or West Ham - both of which King has good links with.

Yeah on the official site it just says a player but judging from the adver it's definitely not a midfielder.

Andy Melville has been mentioned elsewhere but I can't see why West Ham would loan out a 36/37 year old.  They're not likely to want him back are they?  It has to be a young player, I can't think who though.

There is another possibility about who this unnamed player could be...

If anybody still remembers, in the last month or so of the season Chelsea decided to sign some 13 year old wizz kid from our youth set up. We were trying to either get a preseason friendly against Chelsea OR a player on loan.

As no friendly has been arranged, i am going to take a guess that this mystery premiership loanee is from Chelsea? I'm not expecting John Terry or anything, but with a club like Chelsea, even the youngsters are going to be class. I reckon maybe Nuno Morais, looking at this page:
http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?article=250521&Title=Developing+Players&lid=Navigation+-+Players&sub=Developing+Players&nav=players&sublid=

Still, I suppose its a bit of a long shot but I just thought it is a possibility.

The adver talks about an experienced permiership defender though so I'm thinking not a youngster but someone older, towards the end of their career maybe.

How can it be Stubbs, though?  Kingy said it was a LOAN player and Stubbs is OUT OF CONTRACT - the facts don't fit.

Morais sounds a possibility. What about Geremi, has played defence, out of favour at the moment and would tie up with our Whizz Kid heading west.

:Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:  What am i saying? You could just see Geremi agreeing to come here!
