Didn't they say that in 2003 and 2004 when Chelsea went mental in the transfer market?

I think City will be top 4 this season. Arsenal will drop to 5th.

at least they did not buy another striker. expect a bid from city for Lescott in the next few days.

Arsene Wenger, transfer market genius.

£19M bid for Lescott apparently just been made.
I bet if Ronaldo and Kaka hadn't just signed for Real they'd have gone for them too.

Fair play to them, should shake the top four up a bit.

I reckon Liverpool are teetering on the edge of a self-mutilating implosion of minor disasters. Not sure why though. I might just be hoping.

im also looking forward to it, if they win the PL in few seasons time that would be interesting.

Im waiting to see which strikers will play week in week out, any ideas?

i think hughes will go for an attacking formation, probably play adebayor as a lone striker with tevez playing behind him(almost as an Attacking midfielder, (i cant see roque being a week in week out player)
robinho on the left elano/swp on right with barry and de jong/kompany in middle then kolo and lescott/dunno at CB bridge on left richards on right and given in goal.
so a 4 2 3 1

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mourinho ending up at Man City eventually, especially with his recent comments about them. Hughes has really got to get them up in the top 4 at least this season or he's bound to be sacked.

I agree with this.

With the players he has he should also bring home at least 1 piece of silverware. No top 4 finish and no trophies then im sure he will be collecting his P45

I'm bothered in that Man City have been one of the few clubs in recent seasons, who've brought through some English talent...the other 2 being..Middlesborough, got them relegated and West Ham.

The impact can already be seen in that Joe Hart has had to leave...he looks a good prospect, and we're well short on potential England keepers.

When you're going to Chelsea as a young player for the first team football prospects, you know something is wrong.

City are buying plenty of decent players but are they buying individuls or players that form a good team, interesting to see of Mark Hughes can handle all the ego's, I'd fancy them for a European place next season, don't think they will be near the title though

At least it'll shock the top 4.

You can tell Fergie is worried by his comments. He didn't like it one bit when City did the double over United a couple of seasons ago.

And Liverpools big signing seems to be...Glen Johnson this summer.

Arsene Wenger, transfer market genius.

Indeed.

Bought for 150k got his best years out of him then sold him for 17 million.

Last of the invincibles though...

i think it's great fun, was awful when chelsea did it but this is completely different, think maybe because at least they're buying players that are good to watch and it'll be exciting, unlike chelsea

City fans have always had a selfdepricating view of their club and life. This was one of the reasons that they
enjoyed their season in L1 and because of their attitude, it made a refreshing change, unlike Leeds Utd.

It'll be interesting to see if their fans views and expectations change dramatically, as result of their new
found wealth and high profile signings.

I've already seen young kids in the south of england, wearing City shirts this summer.

I await a few Year 7s at the start of term pretending to be Man City fans.  Depressing, but one kid who has family in Hartlepool supports them and some premier league team...however he gave me stick when Harlepool beat us, so I hope he carries this on and starts to follow Hartlepool properly.

I've been saying for a while, it'll be interesting to see if Man City shirts start popping up everywhere. Quite frankly, anybody seen in Swindon with a Man City shirt on (bar the very few real Man City fans) deserves some serious stick.

Yeah but all you will hear from all the new City fans is that they supported the team whilst they were crap/their dad supported the team/Grandpa played for the team or some other excuse like we already get from United, Chelsea and Liverpool fans.
