Reading the charlton forums they seem to think we are tinpot.
here are some attendances when we have been in the same league prior to their ground redevelopment and time in the prem.
Swindon Charlton
1991 9,613 (div2 pos21) 6,502 (div2 pos16) 1992 9,654 (div2 pos8 ) 6,780 (div2 pos7 ) 1993 10,576 (div2 pos 5) 7,039 (div2 pos 12)
and some attendances when they have been in a higher league than Swindon before redeveloping the valley
1990 9,444 (div2) 10,763 (div1) 1989 8,645 (div2) 9,419 (div1) 1988 9,542 (div2) 8,685 (div1) 1987 7,715 (div3) 9,012 (div1)
It amuses me to see these so called 'bigger' clubs looking down their noses at 'tinpot' clubs. there are a fair amount of clubs in the lower leagues that could pull attendances similar to (and probably better) than the likes of Charlton, Reading, Saints, etc if they had better facilities and a sustained period of succes. We are certainly one of them

Indeed. Would be interesting to see clubs like Charlton dumped in the lower leagues for a decade and then see their attendances. Looking at the likes of Sheff Wed, and Forest who came down to this level, each year they were here their attendances dropped. They were also clubs who had also relative recent successes, and played in the premiership regularly before they came down. Swindon as a club have been in the doldrums for 13 years, and I think our attendances have held up pretty well considering all the shite we've gone through.

I think Charlton were playing at Upton Park and at Selhurst park for some of those season as well.
But yes, they have as many premier league hangers on as Reading. You can always tell a club like that because their away support is crap in comparison to their home gates.
