Title: Who couldn't Wise get on with?
Post by: santini on Thursday, October 26, 2006, 08:27:38
Wise said " ... A small factor in my departure was that i found it difficult to work with an unnamed individual connected with town. I will say no more than that."

Who was it that Wise couldn't get on with in the club?

Sorry macca, but look at the words used "indvidual connected with the club" ie not an employee, not a director, but someone linked to the club but with no official position. And I've never yet met anyone who doesn't get on with Sir Seton or James Wills - they're both lovely people (whatever they think of me). Clearly the only person he can be talking about is Cliff Puffett! (That's a joke by the way)

to be fair macca, when you meet Mike on a personal level for the first time (and I have to say I've only ever seen him twice and he was very nice) he's actually quite a bubbly sort of chap.  It seems to be he working style that causes the issues.

ah right i see.i have never met any of them so you can imagine all the stuff i see and hear can get a bit confusing.

As i have stated in other threads Macca, on the 26 September Dennis pledged his future to the club.

Something has happened or come to light in the period since then.

Dennis's "get on ok with Mike D" statement was at the start of his tenure.

Its like the old saying, you never really know someone until you live with them.

erm........................so to speak

Perhaps someone can clarify this point to me.

In the interviews before 26th Sept Wise gave Ed Hadwin the "seriously, don't ask me about that.." response when asked about the Leeds job. FFwd to 26th, Wise never said he was staying, Bob Holt did. Then Holt was fired (OK resigned).

One interpretation is that Bob spoke the truth and that is what Wise said in confidence.

But could it be though that Wise did not committ to STFC in the absolute way that Bob said, and that this was the reason he had to leave? In short did Wise want out much earlier than the 26th?

Where's the Bob Holt option on the poll? He's got to be the prime suspect surely?

The former County Ground boss’s Wiltshire exit received a mixed reaction with some fans angry that he jumped ship so soon, while others said boardroom issues meant it was inevitable he would go.

Wise did not want to be drawn on whether internet postings labelling him Judas and the like really hurt him, although clearly they have.

its amazing how far a silly post can go

I would honestly say in comparison with Danny Donegan and Ian Blatchley the operational side of the club now is on a par if not worse than the previous incumbents.

By operational side I mean the consortium not the Wills’, Mark Devlin or club employees.  All I can honestly see is that we have replace two seasoned albeit naive property developers with a banned company director, a trail of his employees and business associates.  I’d be happy to be proved wrong here but have any of the consortium invested significant sums of money into the club?  I don’t think they have and would have expected if true I would have expected it to be represented in the shareholdings.

It’s almost ironic that the ticket was on a concern for the financial operation of the club and yet we are in more debt now than we were under Donegan and his era of gold plated helicopters.  Most of it may be the Wills’ money but I just wish I could fathom why they are using a company with no experience in football and very little successes outside to run the club.

I’d have thought that Wise’s comments  and the AGM may be the straws that breaks the Dunwoody back and sees them finally suited and booted for good at least then we can look forward and build to the future with stability and consistency.  I could actually live with this league for a few seasons if it meant we could genuinely progress on and off the pitch.

If there’s no action soon I’m convinced Mike Diamandis must have the pictures of James Will’s and Fatbury having that picnic in the woods.

No it isnt Barry

Mike D and Dunwoody are the cause of the majority of this clubs problems. Including Wise going, Power, Devlin

Support them and you will end up in the conference at best

We mustunite to rid ourselves of this cancer

I know nothing; i have no opinion on the board.

Many people read between the lines and convince themselves of things. They may be right they may be wrong, it's conjecture and i know fuck all. Me? I don't give a fuck; i don't want to ruin our season.

What i'm saying is, much in the spirit of the previous quotes,  if you spend enough time convincing yourself and others of something, people will eventually accept it as truth.

Holt was a non-executive director, i.e. he wasn't involved in the day to day running of the club - as far as I'm aware, like Diamandis is the advisor for the Wills' and largely making the decisions that count, Holt was another pair of eyes for the Wills and spokesman for gutless Mr Diamandis.

despite her shortcomings, you've got to feel for Sandy Gray whose going to be made to sit in front of everyone on Saturday because Diamandis hasn't got the bottle

it has to be Diamandis or Wills or Gray. my money would be on Diamandis but having said that he did bring Wise to the club so possibly James Wills?

Post by: Boeta on Thursday, October 26, 2006, 13:32:57
How can it be any of the Wills? They just give their money over to Diamandis and allow him to mismanage it.

Diamandis calls all the shots at the club and has done since Wills came back with more money after the Blatchey/Donegan shamble.

Exactly Boeta. It is Diamandis that calls all the shots, Not Carson

Not really. Wise came out and said that one man is partly responsible for his departure, it's logical that we would want to speculate who it is. Not that it needs much speculation mind.

I really don't see why you're so deadset on burying your head in the sand, do you think people are making up these rumours about Diamandis et al for detrimental reasons or what?

I don't need to be told these things repeatedly to believe they're truth because I have heard them first-hand from various sources.

Not so much burying my head in the sand, more a determination not to allow back ground noise to dilute my love of town.

I understand why there's speculation and i undertsnad why it's directed at one person, but for me to commit to anything takes solid proof.

I am extremely concerned that we are only going to aid our clubs possible demise should we continue to debate the influence of said person over our club. Afterall, he's SSW's adviser. I don't take SSW for a mug and despite speculation to the contrary, i fail to see how one man could create these problems.

I'm just of the opinion that as we will probably never know, we will clutch at straws, rightly or wrongly, and perhaps only make our own smoke because we believe there's a fire.

I don't dispute that you know, and i'm not bothered about being proven wrong. I want to play devils advocate in the hope that i can keep my own sanity in tact and hopefully do my bit to prevent SSW from pulling both his adviser and his families wealth out of our club.

Truth be known i'm scared as fuck and dread the demise of our club, a club which i love like a vicious pet. (It will hurt you, but you will never know when, the magnitude of it and frequency with which it occurs.)
