I've been told Jamie Cox is playing tonight so they must be short on numbers.

Jamie Cox, Chris Waddle, Paul Merson are amoungst the players making up the numbers.  And rumours have it that Mr Charlie Henry has spent the last couple of months shedding pounds, fair play to the bloke.

Hoddle won't be there as called away on business apparently according to RS this morning.

Kingy told me Hoddle may not show up about 2-3 weeks ago but didn't say anything as it was not a cert.

He said Don Rogers and John Trollope will manage the other team should Hoddle not show up.

I think at this rate it will be TEF v L&P  :-))(

To be honest, I know this sounds a bit stupid, but I'm more disappointed in Glenn today then I was back in 93 when he left.  We all knew he'd leave in 93, but he's let himself down today.

Still Jan's made the effort, and so have a load of other players.  It's in aid of a good chairty so everyone should turn up if they can!!

Believe it or not, I hope Chalkie takes to the field tonight - the greatest player ever to pull on the red shirt. If his slabs are hanging out of his shorts and his elbows are sharpened we'll know he's up for it.
The night will be unfulfilled without Chalkie taking the mick out of the ref of Jan the Man's aeroplane.
I thuoght I was going to miss out on this as I'd booked a family holiday in the Isle of Wight. Got there Friday, cottage was a shit heap so we all came home.  Every cloud has a silver lining. Family night out at the CG instead watching some of the greatest STFC players ever and unless the walking Greek dung heap doesn't walk off with the cash, a few quid to Propsect - all in all it promises to be a great evening.

I thought he was. I was looking forward to his return as much as Jan's.

the plane was done,shearer is fat, but if allen was in that goal would have had about 5,white still runs around like he hasn't got a clue,merson was a class above(but that twat on the mike licked his arse continuously)
it was a decent night and good fun.
bryan wade as mentioned scored the best goal.

Shaun hodgetts go the biggest cheer of the night aswell.

The most I've enjoyed myself at a football match for some time.

The most enjoyable 4 hours I have spent at the CG for years.

The winners after was great.  Jan is a legend!!! The real Jan that is!!

i had a swift one in there after.saw the odd player floating about in there.what did i miss?

Kenny Allen in one goal, Steve Book the other. Players on show: calderwood, lingy (dominated), boding and kerslake, kammy (took it very seriously) Leigh Barnard - who for me was excellent, tom jones, nicky summerbee, kammy's son at left back, phil king - who was subbed about 7,456 times, jon gittens, Duncan Shearer - massive!, Chalkie, dave hockaday, ooh shaun taylor, john gorman... to name a few.

Good football played, slow pace but good movement, nice touches and Jan bagged three. got the stand doing aeroplanes. Barnard was excellent, Lingy also good. Book was awesome in one goal, and guest aul merson was outstanding. Missed Hockaday's goal as was interviewing Jan the man - who was sub at the time.

Must admit, having inerviewed Town's squad for the last 7 years it was a delight to meet the players that got me hooked to this club. Shearer a nice bloke, jan just loved talking about town and Nijholt didn;t have a bad word to say.

Had the pleasure of watching the game in the pleasure of super sammy and  ian 'spud' herring, one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet, just signed for Salisbury.

Jan's Chief Exec at Lillestrom now, and isn't Nijholtdoing well for himself.  Maybe the FC could have approached them to join the takeover, now that would have been worth a good battle with the Board.

Shame the CG wasnt packed out. Was quite emmotional seeing so many legeneds of my time as a fan. A very enjoyable evening!

that was brilliant and the most enjoyable football game I've been to in ages.

The touch, movement, control and vision  of some of the players is still a cut above anything we've had in the last 10 years.

I know it was slow paced and all that, but the cross field passing was superb. It was brilliant to watch.

So glad we got to see the aeroplane - only reason I went to be honest!

Only thing it lacked was a Shaun Taylor header from a corner.

Merson was ace and still better than anything we've got in midfield, Kammys still got a right engine on him.

Fantastic night, so many memories came flooding back. Not least the two great forwards Fjortoft and Shearer getting on the score sheet. What a pleasure to see them all grace the pitch. Sure the legs (and in some cases waiste) has gone but the touch and the vision is still outstanding. I'm in no doubt football (and STFC) is not like the old days. Sadly.

Phil King deserves a massive pat on the back for making this happen. And for a great cause too.

And thanks to Fred for organising the TEF VIP night. Superb.

What an enjoyable evening, Might sound gay but I got the autographs of everyone that took part after and a few pictures as well including one with Nijholt and Fjortoft. Loved it and to see the aeroplane again QUALITY. Speaking to Jan after he did say he would come back.... I'm sure it was just talk but fair play for him coming back for this and Lou Macari... well everyone. What an enjoyable night. Even players who weren't brilliant anymore say, you could see how much it meant to them to be there. I can't believe how much hair Leigh Barnard still has bloody hell. What a night of Nostalgia and fair play for 4,300 fans coming out what a turn out!

Great evening - took 2 of my kids to their first ever game at the CG - another one hooked - the other one will when they're older. So many highlights - Jan just oozed class not only as a player but as a person as well. It was pretty difficult to convince my kids that Chalkie is the greatest player ever to wear the shirt - it could have just been his shorts needed adjusting. Kammy still has an unbelievable engine - so has Barney but maybe with a bit more hair. The Fridge put in some nice fouls.  Great goal by Badger Wade. Kenny Allen was great fun - anyone remember that 1-0 victory at Northampton - he was absolutely immense that day. How come Johnny Gits wasn't bigger given his dietary habits.
All in all, great fun and hopefully a good few quid raised for Propspect.
I think a few of our current and more recent players need to look at the skill levels but most importantly the behaviuor of the players on the pitch last night.

Superb evening! I cant remember when i last enjoyed a game a much as last nights. Certainly revived many good memories of better days and of players that could actualy pass the ball to a team mate. Nice to put faces to names and thanks to Fred for organising the VIP evening.

100 Swindon Town legends book which had signatures from the 125/7th anniversary dinner so wanted more signatures in there of people who were not at the dinner and football shirt I wanted signing (and it was).

I must have a good 30-40 legends signatures in the 100 Swindon Town Greats book if not a few more, I may list them later when I get home. I was hoping Hoddle would be there along with Don Rogers and Andy Rowland hwoever the last 2 are available if I walk around town like an idiot into the Plough and Don Rogers sport shop with the book, and the football shirt will be framed when I get a quote.

It was brilliant last night and great to see all my childhood heroes that I grew up with. I only wish that we would offer previous players the chance to be manager of STFC as well. Give me Calderwood, Ling, Taylor, Nijholt, Fjortoft etc over Sturrock any day. To hear them praise the club so highly on Radio Swindon after the match last night was great.

If the FA hadn't have relegated us, we would have had a class team in 1990 and if Colin and Glenn hadn't left in 1993, we would have been as good in the Premiership as Reading were last year.

The rot really did set in with McMahon and King. I only hope that Wise and Sturrock have started a better decade for the club. Boy, does this town need a good football club.

When Kenny Allen came to play against Swindon very early in the season League Cup Round 1 - which Torquay won on penalties ... I got his autograph ( I was about 11 ..) whilst standing on the Stratton Bank .. not many visiting players would sign them but he was a bit of a comedy keeper chatting back to the fans even tho they werent his fans ... saying " OOOh that was a close one" and tapping out an imaginary overly active heartbeat. Great character as you saw last night.

A week later Lou Macari got his autograph .. on a contract for Swindon - so I always say I signed him first ... and he said one of the reasons for signing was that the fans were very friendly .. so I hope I played a part.
