There doesn't appear to be any commentary anywhere .. but hardly surprised. Only a pre-season match against non-league!!!!

Finished 8-1 I think, kind of lost count!

So first half and early part of second we had a pretty strong line up (see official site). It was reasonably competative but we were always in control and in second gear. 3-1 at half time with 'cock getting 2 and Roberts the other.

Couldn't tetll how good or bad our keeper was, he was rarely troubled. He is quite tall though.

The mass of changes at half time saw Lucas J parnered by Brownlie each scoring a brace.  The disputed goal was because they both swung at the ball together. I was quite close and I would give it to Lucas who was in fron of Browlie and seemed to get more contact.

I assume our 'crespo' was Rodriguez and he certainly caugh the eye for me.

Our big guy up front scored the other, though I have to say he looked like he could be the next Trevor Benjamin in providing the comedy.

I'll write more tomorrow if need be! Sufice to say it is impossible to conclude mutch from a preseason against lower league opposition but we did well.

Just got back, fuck me that was a good game.

1st half, Roberts looked lively and Weston looked good in midfield.

2nd half, Brownlie looked okay, very good finisher. Rodrigo was IMO shit.

Jamie Vincent did well at the back (apart from giving away the penalty) and marshalled the back line.

Good game today!

Thought weston was lively in midfield, reminded me how walcott plays - sharp and quick.

As for that rodrigo, pile of wank!

Roberts and Peacock were on the ball up front, they will do a job for us this season!

Thought we kept the ball when we needed to, enjoyed it!

lost count after a while though!

Petr thingy didnt have anything to do

backline of Smith, Ifil, Williams and Vincent looks solid. Vincent got forward alot more this game, whipped in some good crosses

Shakes, Pook, Weston, Monkhouse, looked alright....Weston really caught the eye, always hungry looking for the ball, then using it very wisely...seems to have quite an 'old head' for someone so young.

The Robocock....goals, goals, goals?

2nd half

Again, Phil Smith had nothing to do

Smith, CCP, Nicho, Vincent - had nothing to do, full backs didnt get forward as much 2nd half

Rodrigo, looked better....got a chance to get the ball down and run....can take a great corner though

Holgate I thought did alright in the holding role (!!!) showed some nice touches, got stuck and also showed he really lacks a left foot

Brown....head clearly else where

Brownlie took all his goals well....either 2 or 3....

Jutkiewicz, nice headed goal, lots of hussle and bussle..glad we've got him signed up for three years, ample back up to the Robocock

Onibuje again looked pretty handy, caused ciren problems and worked the right channel very well. Going on what his past clubs have said....I'm positivly surprised with how well hes played

8)  I really enjoyed it. Good game, Roberts and peacock looked good and I was very impressed with Weston. Seemed like a great little player.

And how brilliant it was to see poyet and wisey on the touchline  :D

The moment of the day has to be roberts and his foul mouth.
In the second half we were stood right by the corner flag when he took a corner. He was shouting his head off and then he delivered the corner which I don't think he was too impressed by as he shouted 'FUCKING HELL MAAAAAN' in his strong welsh accent    everyone behind the goal burst into laughter.

Have to disagree, best bit was when Vincent played the ball forward for Onibuje, but Onibuje was just rooted to the spot. Vincent shouts ' Fucking move then!' which I think the whole of Gloucestershire heard.  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

great day and a pretty good game, thoroughly enjoyable. i think i've burnt my face.

the new keeper is massive. i like the sound of him although tuttle told me and lady that he was slovakian. didn't have much to do though, except pick the ball out of the net for the penalty.

vincent looked average, gave away a blatant penalty but was solid enough.

ifil and williams were solid at centre-half with ady barking orders at jerel and talking to him constantly

weston had a stormer, worked hard, used the ball well and was happy to sit deep. i think he could be a bit of a revelation for us.

pook was anonymous and shakes struggled to get into the game.

monkey looks great, can run with the ball, crosses it well and has a really cool surname.

peacock and roberts looked lethal.

the substitutes were impressive as well, though our dominance was mainly due to fitness.

surprised to see people slagging off rodrigo, i thought he worked bloody hard, loves to tackle but he's also got a bit of flair, creativity and is capable of delivering good corners and free-kicks.

royce brownlie definitely scored a hat-trick, his goals were very well taken and he looks a competent finishing with a predatorial streak. i rate him.

fola and lukas took their goals well.

overall, the result flattered us only because our fitness levels were obscenely better than theirs, otherwise there would not have been as many goals.

lady and i were chatting with david tuttle before the game - he seemed to be a nice bloke and was happy to chat - and told us about the new keeper. as the official site states, we have first option/first refusal on him and he seems to be highly rated. doesn't speak any english but the club are paying for english lessons and i think he had a translator with him today.

tuttle also said that this big name is genuinely exciting, 100 times bigger than the likes of cureton (for instance) but wouldn't tell us anything more.

phil smith will probably be our deputy goalkeeper this season.

We put 8 past Bury in December 1979; around the same time we knocked Arsenal out of the League Cup quarter finals in a replay 4-3.

I can think of some 6's; not 7's though.

Don't think so, probably a bit before his time....although he did play and score for the Shots in a Skoda Hubcap gameat the CG when Digby got sent off when we were winning 2-0 and lost 3-2.

Think their keeper was a tonsorially challenged fella called Glen Johnson, although could be wrong it was a long time ago.

Tuttle seems quality.  Pretty willing to chat opening re players/situations etc. (Although he didn't mention anything about Brown leaving)

Seemed very enthusiastic re the big named player, apparently its "in our favour" at te moment and due to find out either way in a week/week and a half.  Its definitely someone very well known and high profile but I guess we'll have to wait and see if they can pull it off.

Generally a fairly encouraging performance.  We looked better than when we played them last year and they looked worse (I was loving their 40 stone strikeforce!) Dont want to go too over the top - Ciren were really poor in IMO.

Some good points -

- Curtis Weston looked very good to me. Always wanted the ball and rarely gave it away. lots of running.
- Williams organised the defence well, albeit against a couple of talentless piemen. plenty of talking.
- Peacock and Roberts looked a threat
- The team looked fitter in general. so much more so than cirencester, which is how it should be
- Their no 2 looked quite decent (he won the pen) worth a trial?
- Beer whilst watching makes football approximatley 28.36% more enjoyable
- Lucas looked good when he came on.
- Brownlie looks alright, I'm just not sure that theres much point in signing him
- Fola seems to be a slightly Wanchope-esque figure. I'd probablly give him a contract for a year.

Some not so good points

- Thought Vincent had a poor game. erratic distribution and got done big time for the pen. I dont know why he brought him down either, he wasnt going to score from that angle.
- Not really a bad point but I've no idea if either of the keepers who played for us are any good, they had so little to do
- Didnt think Monkfish did much
- Pook still isnt very good
- Wise didnt play
- I missed Brownlie's 2nd as I was watching the Red Arrows

Wise seems to rate him though ... and Holgate in midfield  He must see things others can't. Do you trust his judgement?

Not sure about that Santini, with Whalley being injured and Wise and Poyet seemingly relectant to play themselves at this stage those 2 are playing by default pretty much.

I expect us to end up with a Wise & Weston central midfield. Perhaps not straight away , but I think Dennis will realise that hes too good a player to leave himself out. That and weston looks very livley and will put in a lot of his running for him.

Sounds good to me. Wise holding the middle together and laying off passes to runners. Lets hope they've got the vision to read the moves with him.

I agree. If Wise is needed/feels he should play then he would piss on other teams in this division, and from what I hear Weston is a lively character
