Post by: STFCere on Friday, November 4, 2005, 22:33:41
when kingy used to whistle from the touchline and wave franticly at the players?! i sat there thinking what the hell is he trying to say?! the players used to look at him totally bemused. Then they just pretended to do something different but didnt really know if it was what kingy wanted them to do! those were the days OF TOTAL TACTICAL CONFUSION!

Word to big bird.

Remember the days of still being in with a chance of automatic promotion with a couple of months of the season left, 11 game unbeaten runs, being almost guaranteed at least one goal from either of our strikers each game, capacity crowds for the big games and averaging nearly 8,000 a game.

I do, that was under king, only a year and a half ago.

And remember the days of a humiliating third home defeat in a row, with attendances plunging well under 5,000 and us sat on the bottom of the table...

ben...

i don't hate king. in fact i've got a lot of respect for the bloke, he had probably the most difficult circumstances to do his job under than any other manager in the country. he had his good points and bad, as i'm everyone does unless you're mourinho.

yes, i wanted him out... not because i hated king but because i really felt we needed some new direction after 5 years of king, when the fact is we were still in the same divison as when we started.

the club is in a better state than it was when king took over, i truly believe that. and i thank him for it, but now's the time to let him go and back iffy to get us out of this. he's the man do it.

and that's the last i'm going to say on the matter. thanks, and good luck, andy.

Have you ever tried coaching from the touchline.....basically its not going to happen.....nevertheless the modern media require some kind of performance, hence managers have to wave their arms about.

The really good ones still don't bother too much.

Its not like conducting an orchestra.

... and if all you lot had just stopped calling him names and saying naughty things about him he would have been the bestest again and we would have played so good that we would have won the world cup in our new stadium next year and all lived happily ever after. :shake:

What's done is done, you've got to deal with that. I'm confident that Yeovil Red is right, Kingy would have kept us up, but instead, what was it - 40 supporters called for his head and the board got scared and acted. So we've been through the transition stage, and we're being left behind. But things are looking much better now, I think Iffy can do it, if we get some luck, but it's not going to be a pretty time in the run up to May.
And prepare yourself for the worst, just in case...

Whether Andy King would have kept us up, is neither here nor there because we will never know.

Iffy on the other hand, will keep us up...

I have every confidence we will stay up at the moment. Who knows? In a months time my opinion may have changed dramatically!

But for now I  am backing Iffy. He has installled confidence and belief and it has paid off so far.

Yes only 40 protested, but im sure alot more would have protested but like myself i thought we would be stuck with King forever and there would have been no point in making my views heard.

Nah, we were 23rd after Bradford and only went bottom after Iffy took over. I'm hoping he can take us back off the bottom again 'cos I hate it.
