Title: Permitted Development
Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 12:14:31
Anybody on this forum with experience of permitted development?  Just considering options at the moment but need a utility room of some sort on the side of the house but unsure of what is allowed and what is not!  Any info would be gratefully received!!  Ta in advance!!

Yeah, I have the misfortune of being a chartered town planner.... However for PD rights I must confess I normally use http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/ to navigate the process? Side extensions tend to depend on where you live and distance to boundaries etc.

One thing to check is that your PD rights haven't been removed by the council in some way, are you in a Conservation Area or is it a reasonably new house?

No, it's an old house but not in a conservation area.  Our neighbour built almost (4 inches) to our boundary with a double storey extention in early 2000's so I just want to fill in the bit between us with a single storey utility and downstairs toilet.  I'll have a look at that site, thanks!
