Title: A nice quiet Sunday
Post by: Sussex on Sunday, February 22, 2009, 07:06:58
Or so I thought.

But no. Birdys offered my services to the retired greyhound trust to clean the kennels and walk all the 32 greyhounds there. What a nice gesture! At least I can let our Benny go for a run off the lead in one of their enclosed pens.

Can't do it anywhere else as I can't run at 45mph to catch him if he decides to do a runner in the fields around here.

Anyone got anything interesting planned for today?

(another pointless post from me..)

I'm going to take my mutt for a nice long walk around the countryside, probably walk to East Lambrook and Shepton Beacham. Then I'm going to pop in the office for a couple of hours, as I was off last week I'll need a bit of a head start on tomorrow. This afternoon I've got a Snooker Darts Tournament (It's like snooker, but with darts not cues and a board, not a table) This evening I'll be relaxing at home, enjoying the last portion of chilli I made and froze on Monday.

I love Sundays.

Just about to set off to football, a massive top of the table clash in the Lewes & District Sunday Football League! The side I manage have only lost twice, once against the team we're playing this morning so it's a big one.

Is that a subtle way of saying that you might be the other side of 50 neville?  ;)

Think she's done me up like a kipper because I laughed when Villa lost. All her family are Villa. Bitch.

They're not Brummies, they just live near Abingdon. Her brother used to support Pox and switched to Villa and her dad gets free tickets. Bit wierd, but that's not really surprising living so close to the scum..

Got some reading to do for tomorrow's class. 'Stuffed and Starved' by Raj Patel. Sounds like a pretty interesting book if you take an interest in the goings on in the world's poorer nations.

I am going through my music video/live footage library.

I have this offering for you, The White Stripes on Conan O'Brien:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xplo6_the-white-stripes_music

I also have Goals on Sunday on, interesting that Peter Reid has decided to enhance his simian-like features by growing a huge pair of side-burns.

Roast chicken?

Smear butter on the skin of the chicken.

The salt in the butter will make the skin go crispy. The... uhhh... wet part of the butter will keep the breast moist.

Incidentally, next week's 'Come Dine With Me' is the Swindon edition.

Bennett's a vegan, I think that means he can't even eat wafer thin ham.

Title: Re: A nice quiet Sunday
Post by: michael on Sunday, February 22, 2009, 12:28:04
Another tip is to cut the entire breast off the body of the chicken, then slice it across the length of the breast.

This way everyone gets a warm bit, and not just those whose serving is produced last.

:)

I had no idea they were here. Who are the support act GK Nash? Really getting into Beach House, who supported them last time round.

I was talking to someone on here before now who had somehow dragged The Black Keys along to a Town game, wearing club scarves and everything, and even got a picture. Reckon you can match that?

I fucking love fleet foxes.

White winter hymnal is amazing.

I was wondering how they manage all the layering in their production when they play live, must be an interesting one.

Not to mention Women's League Cup Final in Scunthorpe on Thursday. nice.

Busy week ahead Stroood.

To soften the blow I happen to have some Fleet Foxes in my live footage library.

'Mykonos', this isn't on the album but is on the superb 'Sun Giant EP'.

This went a bit wrong, I fucking love greyhounds and their different characters, but I seem to have agreed to do voluntary work at Brighton Greyhound Trust starting at 8am tomorrow.

Out of the 32, there was at least six I'd have taken home if we had a big enough house!

It'll keep me occupied during the day I suppose...

They've got The Clientele tonight, The Acorn tomorrow and Vetiver on Tuesday.  Dont know anything about any of them!

I know Ben who took the photo.  He's a tour manager and town fan I occasionally bump into (last time was at the hundred club with the duke spirit).  He was telling me the story of getting the black keys down to a match.  Apparently they were very confused in the pub fans talking to them in broad wilts accent about footy.  I think we can claim them as fans though!

They are amazing live, and its pretty organic.  No tricks in terms of production, just voices that are spot on and a lot of practice Id guess.  Im really looking forward to the shows as its the first time Ive done a gig in the main room here and it does look an amazing placethat will really suit the band.

Mate's 40th last night - got home about an hour ago and tbh I've felt better. Planned on spending the rest of the day doing as little as possible, and what little I do do, doing it slowly while the hangover wears off but the missus has just decided we need to get the kids new shoes. I may expire in Brantanos, if I'm not on here later will someone check behind the kids shoes section there tomorrow morning and retrieve my corpse. Ta

Sat watching Fulham vs. WBA at the moment - Zamora scores and Fulham have dominated throughout... It was getting frustrating for Fulham so you'd think the goal would be welcomed by joyous celebrations. No, those in near Zamora gave him an awkward-like round of applause instead! How quaint.

Coincidentally I've just done a 20 miler.....much of it off road though. My younger son has just got himself a new bike and pestered me into joining him, on my ancient and battered beast.  Amazingly it still works, I haven't been on it for a couple of years, but a bit of WD40 works wonders....gear cable snapped mind, which made uphill stuff tortuous.

Think I'll need some medicinal drinking this evening...

i don't agree with the whole argument that because we've ruined the world (ie over bred animals) they should be killed and eaten,
and when they are killed and eaten by people who don't mind it they should at least know the provenence (i think that's the right word) of their food.

my parents and two of my siblings are vegan bennett.i was curious as to your reason for your lifestyle.why did you stop being vegan?
i am probably the worst meat eater as i know that it is wrong to eat animals.i've been well educated about the whole process.i just try to ignore that and am selfish really.eventually the planets inhabitants will have to be mostly plant eating,as meat production is destroying the planet.

the grain it takes to feed the creatures we eat is scarey.
i stopped being vegan as i was too lazy (working in london stupidly long hours etc) and got ill, it turned into too negative a lifestyle for me.
i still cook vegan stuff, it's something i've been toying with going back to for a while.
now i've got my own place i can spend the time to cook properly and healthily to make sure i don't get imaciated (sp) again!

I'm bloody knackered. The two girls at the kennels seem to have the stamina of things that have lots of stamina. Two pens, three giant cages, let them out four pairs at a time, clean their kennels, let them back in, next four pairs out etc.. Then feeding. Male and female to each kennel, female gets her bowl in the kennel, male gates his in a cage, when they've finished female joins male in cage for wees and poos. Get them back in and disinfect/hose down cages, then it's time to pick up the poo in the field before letting them out two pairs at a time for 30 minutes excersise each in the pens.

I lasted three and a half hours (I'm very unfit). They're there until 4pm.

Roll on 8am tomorrow..
