I watched Away Days last night which was described on the box as 'Quadrophenia for football fans'. Very slow start which didn't really improve. In fact it was so boring I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. Avoid.

Si - when renting 'Awaydays' to a customer last night I noticed that the reviews on the box both compare it to other films - nothing original to say about the actual film! I mentioned as much as well but he seem unpeturbed. But yeah, I've been told its shit, its what my old manager would call a chav film, the likes of Green Street 2 seem to attract a certain type of customer...

There's been some quite decent films I've seen which have gone straight to dvd and they're not even Van Damme films.

Watched The boat that rocked today, quite enjoyed it also watched live with Eva Mendes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810945/). wasn't expecting to enjoy it but thought it was quite gripping towards the end, worth a look at.

Be Kind Rewind last night and thought it was an enjoyable watch.  The Missus wasn't impressed but it's worth a watch.

Really want to see the new Shane Meadows and Paddy Considine film, 'Le Donk and Scor-Zay-Zee'. Its a comedy mocumentary about two UK rappers, filmed in only 5 days on a tiny budget, and has got good reviews. Sounds like the best thing out for a while.

I heard good things on Front Row. Well they said that Constantine carried a bit, and that the main relationship in the film wasn't the important one. But they still said it was good and it sounded like a thorough review, which front row is good at. Sometimes they just say a film is good to try and make Radio4 sound a bit more hip and trendy.

Really? I read good reviews when it came out and had been really looking forward to seeing it. Thought it looked well good.

I was actually gonna buy it outright but think I'll download and see if I like it now.

Do you like football hooligan films generally tho? (putting aside Green Street which we all agree was shit)

It's not really an out and out football hooligan story but I knew that anyway.

The only thing it does well is capture the main character's boredom at the start, by making you equally bored. I don't want to give too much away, but you'd at least expect things to become a bit more exciting when the character gets into new things.

Axs said the book was good, I haven't read it but I think it could be a story which works well as a book and not as a film. I get the impression it's supposed to be very character based.

Well some review said it was the thinking mans hooligan film and I think it might have even played at the arty cinema here.

...which intrigues me but in another way might not bode well for this kind of film?

I guess I'll just fucking watch it n get back to you.

Watched RocknRolla the other night - it was okay, Lock Stock and Snatch are far superior but it was a decent enough film.

Watched Superbad this weekend - I didn't expect anything, and I got less than I expected.  I thought it was awful.
