I can't help with a recommendation, but if you take it anywhere other than Ford, make sure they use Ford original/approved parts.

Always the same. Pros and cons, yes it costs more but at least you get the stamp. As its a new year car I would bite the bullet.

It's on a lease. When I got it I asked if I had to come back to ford for servicing and they said no.

Cross Street  Garage by the old Cllege has always been excellent for me and not too expensive.

If its on a lease, there should be an r+m deal?

Maintenance isn't always included. It isn't on mine.

£230 is a snip. My Civic Type R service at 60,000 was £695!

This is its first service. I've read the terms of my lease and ad long as I use ford approved parts or those of same quality I'm free to go wherever.
I've had quotes of 100 quid and less.

So I found this site called servicing stop. You give them details of car and location and they book you in with a local garage.
They picked the car up when they said they would did the work and dropped it back off when they said they would.
Confirmed all parts where ford approved to comply with warranty and I couldn't fault it, all for the cost of 74 quid,
In this case the garage used was man at home garage whom I'd never heard of but would not hesitate using again.

That's a steal.

I know the first service is only an oil & filter change, but that seems a bit too cheap for genuine parts.

Are you allowed to do the servicing yourself? Or does it have to be professionally carried out?

Probably not as you would need an invoice/receipt.

OEM parts for a minor service would be more than £70 surely?

Yes of course but you wouldn't have a stamp in the book, therefore invalidating the warranty.

The parts for a major service (and oil) wouldn't come to that in most cases

Garages a) pay trade prices b) buy in bulk

Besides, stroll into ECP and you can pick up 5 litres of Shell for about 30 quid to Joe Public so you're totally right.

Oops silly me, I forgot the bulk discount was passed onto the customer.  ::)

I've bought a gallon of fully synthetic oil off the shelf for about £33, do you really think you'd get it at that price as part of a service?

Besides, the oil is about £50, filter about a tenner,  air filter about £30. If Chubbs can get it for less than £100 then I'd be surprised.

He already has you pleb, which is why your arguments are a complete mystery
