Title: SSDs
Post by: jayohaitchenn on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, 09:40:33
My 500gb SSD is almost full. Currently using a Samsung Evo 512GB but the next model up is well out of my price range. Can anyone recommend a decent SSD that's 1TB or more in size and that doesn't break the bank?

Thanks.

Unfortunately there are so few high capacity SSD's that are affordable, the best value for money is the Sandisk 960gb but its still £202.

Are you putting everything on SSD? It seems a bit excessive.

Have you considered an SSHD for games, I’m sure you don’t play every single one you have all of the time. This would work out a lot cheaper with far higher capacity.

I personally use a 240gb SSD for my OS, a 500gb SSD for Steam games only (95% full so I need an upgarde soon) and 4tb for music/pics/other stuff.

I have never used a hybrid SSD/HDD myself but it may be an option for you Jayo, certainly cheaper.

All my PC data is games or saved game data :)

TC shows, films etc are all on my NAS

Good to know on SSHD. I've read favourable and non favourable things about game and program load times.

Some of the market place sellers are doing that SSd cheaper (£150 including delivery)

Amazon's price has gone back up. It was just over £100 yesterday.

I assume Jayo didn't buy it on Prime Deal day :)
