I'm lead to believe its actually more! And probably not going to improve any time soon. Wary of thinking "it'll never happen to me" but I'm hopeful I won't be so burnt out and disillusioned within the next 4 years that I'll have to pack it in. |

Reg is right. We've had NQT's crying in cupboards. Today we've had three leave in only 1 or 2 years in post. 1 is off to become a ski instructor, 1 is becoming a police officer and not sure about the other.
You have to be strong in the classroom, and Young NQT's aren't. Most are too modern and try to be 'mates' with the students. I've worked in schools for 15 years and seen hell of a lot changes.

It could be an age thing, it might not. The thing you have to be is not a walk over, in my opinion. I think once students know you can be pushed, they will push. I work in both secondary and primary environments, and secondary students are definitely more demanding. |
