He had a great game away to Huddersfield in the PO season. Definitely found some form around then.

Lucas is on their pre-season trip to Spain. Hopefully he can work something out with Rochdale.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd be more than happy to have a few beers with David Lucas. He's a cool guy and was the least of our problems last season.

It's not about whether a player is a 'nice' guy, or not. It's about stepping up when the going gets tough.

Too many players (Lucas included) failed to do that last season. All the players who wanted to desert have now done so and good riddance.

Time to focus on next season's squad and forget last season's failures and bottle jobs.

Genuinely enjoyed having David Lucas at the club. A keeper with balls, who (when fit and in form) controlled the box as well as anyone we've had for years. God we've had some average keepers... Smith epitomises average, Evans flattered to deceive, Griemink was a waif, Mildenhall was superb at times, but rarely authoratative, Talia volatile but had a great run of form....  brez, was 2 different keepers pre and post arm break.

Lucas in his 1st year with us was better than any of them. Controlled the back four, nothing fancy, just solid.

If we go through bring town fans, hating every player for the way they left, it'll drive us mad. Same goes for Charlie and Paynter. Happy memories. In Lucas' shoes, its a good time to move on. I'll remember a talented keeper, who used his experience and confidence wisely, as one of our best for years.

I have a lot of time for DL but it was time to part company. He clearly had a few niggles and also the family issues. On his day he's clearly one of the better keepers outside the top flight so a shame we didn't see much of that last year. Fond memories and a fonder fair well. Nice one Dave.

The season before last he was the best keepr since Digby. Last season, for whatever reason, he was more like Hammond - absolute shite. I think a move away works for both parties. 

Lucas was a very good and solid keeper the season before last,but Brezovan pre injury was at times brilliant.
He edges it for me for best keeper since Digby. Lucas is replaceable as he wasn't anything special imo

I was a fan of Lucas tbh, shame he was so injury prone really.

Brez's Hartlepool debut seems to distort the fact that he was as generally fucking awful of most of the clowns we've had recently, after his break he was genuinely terrible.

But before his break(as everyone has stated) was good yeah

Brev was top drawer pre-break. You try throwing 15st around a six yard box Hard enough without the hindrance of once shattered shoulder bones.

I'd give him another crack in Lg.2 either way.

Brez used to claim everything in his area and some of the saves he made were amazing. Swansea at home he was outstanding. One of the best goalkeeping performances i've ever seen.

Was sitting with a Swansea fan that day,he still talks about that goalkeeping performance....and the injury time dive by Cox that got us a pen and a draw.

That was the best draw I've ever seen.

Has anyone got highlights of this game anywhere. It was one of the best performances i've seen from town. The Brez save was incredible, Robinson almost breaking the bar for them and then of course the 96th min equaliser from the most blatent dive ever!

Think it was Barry Corr that got sent off, early in the first half.

Then instead of staying 4-4-1 - Budgie took off Zaaboub for Paynter and went 4-3-2.

One of the best town displays for a long time, even at 1-0 down, 1 man down  with about 5 minutes to go against top of the league we never gave up - and wasnt the penalty for handball?

Thats the type of committed display I expect Di Canio wants every week.

Fans deserve credit for that games as well...the spontaneous applause and encouragement from the DRS after the Swansea goal had never been heard before, or since... (in those circumstances)

I never saw the penalty I committed one of the Football fans cardinal sins and got so worked up I left with a minute to go, as I walked out I kicked one of those concrete pillars in the car park (later finding out I had fractured my toe)...limped back to the car and found out we had got a draw!!

I wanted to go to that game, but my Dad's spare car, a clapped out Mini Metro that he let me use during university holidays, was on its last legs so he banned me driving it up to Birmingham.  Instead, my brothers and I went to Elm Park to see Reading vs Mansfield.  A nothing game - don't even remember the score or who won.  All I do remember is some of the locals with transistor radios looking shocked and talking about our game on the way out.

Finances meant either that I had tochose betweem that game or Luton (I think) at home, I chose the home game.  At least we won the game I chose 1-0.

My abiding memory of Elm pk that day was how Reading were such a tinpot club. Time flies.
