Got to head oop north (A419 -> M5 -> M6) later and wondered if anyone has any insight into the kind of conditions I can expect on this journey please?
Satnav doesn't seem to show it as being unusually arduous, but I'm sure there are people on here who've driven these roads over the last few days and can give me a real world view.
Thanks x

Don’t listen to anything PaulD says, he’ll likely to tell you to top yourself rather than attempt a journey of such arduousness. You’ll be fine, just drive like a fucking loony, you’ll be surprised at how clear the roads suddenly become.

I remember when the 419 was still a Roman Road, that simple fencing was placed in the fields just off the road. Basically some poles (no not a use for our Eastern European chums) held together by wire. The snow rather than drifting in off the fields, banked up on the fence.

I've never felt more uneasy driving in 20 years as a truck driver than I did yesterday. Today seems equally as bad. My advice is to only drive if it's vital and you have no choice. Ask yourself if it's worth it.

Isn’t the 419 closed due to the snow plough getting stuck

Fuck off you tart, my complaint was that the council are shit, not that the conditions are too difficult to drive in. I'm in work today, are you?

Thanks. I'm certainly more leaning towards staying home, but I'm not sure whether tomorrow will be any better.
Might wait until late - it's not my Fangio like driving skill that concerns me, but that of the other idiots.

I've just driven a mile to my parents' house to collect my kids, and regretted not walking over almost as soon as I had left. Horrible driving conditions here - although I'm maybe 90 mins east of you.
I wouldn't go out today unless you absolutely had to. Tomorrow will be better.
