Great picture from the Mail Online of a packed Stratton Bank for a 1964 FA Cup game with West Ham. I was at this match and seem to recall that we were a bit unlucky to lose 3-1 with centre half Ken McPherson scoring our consolation goal.

28,000 + shoe horned into the CG that day...we averaged over 18,000 that season, more than Man City who we dumped in the 3rd round.

And from the TE you waited for the boards to be hung up at SB announcing the half time scores.
Where were you then, Stelling?

You don't seem to get the farting at football these days. Almost guaranteed someone would drop their guts on the bank, and even without a roof the stink used to hang for ages

They were still being used in the 80's.

Indeed they were. Forced you to buy a programme so you knew which matches the scores related to.
In all my years going to the CG I don't think I have ever watched an entire game from SB.
Was in there amongst the West Ham fans once before me and all the others got 'escorted' back to what was supposedly an already full TE

Almost guaranteed someone would drop their guts on the bank, and even without a roof the stink used to hang for ages I love it......My mate dropped his during the League Cup defeat at Pompey at the start of the Premier Season...open bank then...it stuck around like the mother in law at Christmas! and the taste... :puke:urgh....still haunts me now. Nowadays its all seated, so it drifts back two rows before rising up.....i was the victim of a particular viscious depth charge at Fulham in the FA Cup....pooooo!

Worst stink of my life in a football stadium was some cunt in front of me at Yeovil a few years back. I'd gone with a friend and was sat in the home end, and whoever dropped it had obviously been on the cider for a while.
Makes me nauseous even thinking about it.

Thanks for posting that...never seen it. Love the fans on the pylons.
